Klein defeated Heraldo Souza via submission (rear-naked choke) at 0:37 of Round 1 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of four fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.

In the ensuing scramble, Klein found Souza's back while he was trying to get up to his feet, and moments later the fight was over.
