Rowston defeated Brandon Holmes via TKO (punches and elbow) at 2:58 of Round 1 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of five fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.

Rowston saw his first scheduled Contender Series bout in 2023 get canceled, and he proceeded to lose to Torrez Finney in his 2024 appearance. The third time proved to be the charm for the City Kickboxing product. He met his advancing opponent with a stiff elbow before an uppercut and another big right closed the proceedings for good. Considering Rowston fought for just three minutes and only absorbed 14 significant strikes, a quick turnaround for the 30-year-old middleweight could be in order. The UFC has a Sept. 27 card set to take place in his native Australia that could be a good fit.
