Falls in late-notice UFC debut
BantamweightUFC
February 8, 2025
Thicknesse lost to Aleksandre Topuria via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 312 on Saturday in Sydney, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Thicknesse accepted this fight a little over a week ago following the withdrawal of Cody Haddon (undisclosed). He was available on short notice because he's a local Aussie. Thicknesse by no means embarrassed himself, but he managed just 40 total strikes and failed on all eight of his takedown attempts. Colby entered with an undefeated record in seven regional-scene fights, but Topuria was obviously his toughest test to date. The good news is that Thicknesse will receive another shot with the company, presumably with a full training camp under his belt, due to his willingness to "save" this fight.

UFC debut scheduled
BantamweightUFC
January 29, 2025
Thicknesse will make his UFC debut against Aleksandre Topuria in a bantamweight bout at UFC 312 on Feb. 8th, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Thicknesse will make his debut with the promotion on extremely short notice. He'll fill in for Cody Haddon, who is out for an undisclosed reason. Topuria, however, is also making his debut with the promotion, so there's plenty of intrigue between these young fighters.
