Strong effort in native Mexico
LightweightUFC
February 24, 2024
Zellhuber defeated Francisco Prado via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
This was arguably Zellhuber's most impressive performance to date. Not only did he have to fight through some difficult moments early on, but his fight IQ was on display throughout. Zellhuber is massive for the lightweight division at 6-foot-1. He is very good at staying on the outside and picking his opposition apart. Prado is young and inexperienced, which made Daniel's job a bit easier. Zellhuber looked lousy in his UFC debut against Trey Ogden back in September 2022, but he's run off three straight wins since. Given his age -- 25 this coming July -- and frame, Zellhuber has legitimate long-term potential at 155 pounds. He'll also take home an extra $50,000 here after this bout was awarded Fight of the Night honors.

Zellhuber will fight Francisco Prado in a lightweight bout at UFC Mexico on Feb. 24, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Zellhuber will fight in his birth country of Mexico. He stands a good chance to log his third consecutive win after strong victories over Lando Vannata and Christos Giagos, respectively.
Secures second straight win
LightweightUFC
September 16, 2023
Zellhuber defeated Christos Giagos via submission (anaconda choke) at 3:26 of Round 2 at Noche UFC on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's a second straight victory for Zellhuber, although he had to work considerably harder here than in his unanimous decision win over Lando Vannata this past April. Still just 24 years of age, Daniel ate a huge left hand from Giagos in the early going which sent him stumbling and appeared to have the youngster in real trouble. Zellhuber managed to settle things down later in the frame before forcing Giagos to tap to a beautiful anaconda choke -- one that would go on to earn him a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. There are almost certain to be some ups and downs along the way given Zellhuber's youth, but he's clearly a fighter to keep an eye on at 155 pounds moving forward.

Strong showing for first UFC win

April 15, 2023
Zellhuber defeated Lando Vannata via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-28, 30-27) at UFC on ESPN 44 on Saturday in Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
It was a massive bounce-back effort for Zellhuber, who needed it in the worst way on the heels of a unanimous decision loss to Trey Ogden last September in his UFC debut as a whopping -410 favorite. He entered as a much more modest -125 favorite over Vannata and performed considerably better. Zellhuber was responsible for the biggest moment of the fight with a Round 1 knockdown of Lando, but it was his activity which won him this bout. Daniel attempted a whopping 225 total strikes compared to just 91 from Vannata. Just 23 years of age, Zellhuber remains a legitimate prospect in a loaded lightweight division.
Second UFC fight scheduled

January 21, 2023
Zellhuber will face Lando Vannata on April 15, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Zellhuber carried a 12-0 professional record into his UFC debut in September but wound up losing to Trey Ogden via unanimous decision. His opponent, Zellhuber, has been with the promotion since 2016, going 4-6-2.
