Set to fight in June
Wineland will fight Cody Stamann at the UFC event June 18, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old will return to the octagon in June, looking to get back in the win column after dropping his last two fights, most recently losing via TKO (punches) at the hands of John Castaneda in February 2021. Wineland will take on Cody Stamann, who hasn't won since June 2020.

Suffers second-straight stoppage loss
Wineland lost to John Castaneda via TKO (punches) at 4:44 of Round 1 at UFC Vegas 19 on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Wineland was arguably winning the fight up until Castaneda rocked him with a punch late in the round, which led to the finishing sequence. At 36 years of age and losing back-to-back fights via the first-round stoppage, it is unclear how many fights Wineland has left in the UFC.

Verbal agreement for Feb. 20
Wineland has a verbal agreement in place to take on John Castaneda in a bantamweight bout at UFC Fight Night on Feb. 20, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This will be Wineland's 40th professional fight. He was last in the Octagon back in early June when he was knocked out by Sean O'Malley. The 36-year-old has fought one fight a year since 2017.

Destroyed by Sean O'Malley
Wineland lost to Sean O'Malley via KO (punch) at 1:54 of Round 1 at UFC 250 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This was Wineland's 21st fight under the WEC/UFC banner, most in bantamweight history. He's had better nights. Eddie actually looked respectable for the first 90-plus seconds before O'Malley blasted him with one right hand. Wineland's eyes rolled back into his head and he was out before he hit the mat. It's hard to get on Eddie for this effort. He entered as a +440 underdog and a fight against a young, talented striker like O'Malley was a worse-case scenario for the aging veteran. Wineland is 1-3 in his past four fights dating back to April 2017. The UFC has to be smarter about who they match him up against if they are going to continue to run the soon-to-be 36-year-old back out there.

To meet Sean O'Malley at UFC 250
Wineland will take on Sean O'Malley in a bantamweight matchup at UFC 250 on June 6, Ariel Helwani of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Wineland last competed in June of 2019, stopping Grigorii Popov in the second round via strikes to snap a two-fight losing streak. He was scheduled to face Marlon Vera at UFC Columbus in March, but that turned out to be one of many events derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Wineland will be giving up four inches in height and three inches in reach to O'Malley, a top prospect that is 3-0 under the UFC banner. O'Malley has earned post-fight bonuses in each of his last two bouts, most recently defeating Jose Quinonez via first-round stoppage at UFC 248 this past March. O'Malley has a much greater number with respect to striking volume, but that should even out as the competition gets tougher and sample size increases. O'Malley also appears to have an edge in offensive wrestling, though Wineland sports a tremendous 86 percent takedown defense over a much, much larger sample size. With that in mind, look for this one to primarily play out on the feet.
