Falls via decision at UFC 280
MiddleweightUFC
October 22, 2022
Omargadzhiev lost to Abubakar Nurmagomedov via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 27-30) at UFC 280 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
Omargadzhiev needed a strong rebound performance on the heels of his loss to Caio Borralho in his UFC debut this past April, and it never materialized. The two men fought to relatively even terms on the feet, but Omargadzhiev spent nearly eight minutes (7:55) being controlled by Nurmagomedov on the mat. His pace and overall effectiveness also dipped towards the end of the fight for the second bout in a row. Omargadzhiev is talented enough to win his fair share of fights in the UFC, but with two losses in a row to begin his run with the the company, he may not get the opportunity should he come up short his next time out.

Omargadzhiev lost to Caio Borralho via unanimous technical decision (27-29, 27-29, 27-29) at 3:56 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's exceedingly rare to see a unanimous technical decision in this sport. Not only did we have two on this card, but both involved referee Dan Miragliotta. Omargadzhiev, making his UFC debut, was on the short end of the second one. He was never able to get out of the starting gate in what was widely expected to be one of the closest fights on the entire card. Omargadzhiev spend most of the fight being controlled on the mat. He was blasted in the face with an illegal knee from Borralho late in Round 3, which resulted in the latter being deducted a point. Omargadzhiev was unable to continue, but because of the juncture in the fight in which the foul took place, it went to the scorecards. Omargadzhiev was done from there despite the deduction. Omargadzhiev has plenty of potential but needs a rebound effort his next time out.

Omargadzhiev is slated to take on Caio Borralho at a UFC event on April 16, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport Nederland reports.
ANALYSIS
Omargadzhiev will make his UFC debut after defeating Jansey Silva via submission in Round 1 of Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series and earning a contract. History-making sub earns contract

Omargadzhiev defeated Jansey Silva via submission (kneebar) at 4:19 of Round 1 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of five fighters to earn an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
Omargadzhiev typically gets it done with his hands, but he was able to pick up his third career submission in what was the first ever kneebar in Contender Series history. Early in the round, Omargadzhiev executed a perfect double-leg takedown and showed off his grappling from there, only needing 10 significant strikes on his way to the finish. He looked exactly the part of a (-550) betting favorite and will now enter the middleweight division with a perfect 13-0 record. He enters with lofty goals, stating in his post-fight interview that he wishes to break Khamzat Chimaev's record as the quickest fighter to earn three wins. Considering Omargadzhiev took very little damage here, he could end up debuting in short order.
