Armfield defeated Brad Katona via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 297 on Saturday in Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Armfield was visibly shocked he got the call, but the good work he did over the course of the first ten minutes was enough in the eyes of all three judges. The win was the direct result of Armfield winning virtually all of the striking exchanges between the two men. He closed with a 130-76 edge in total strikes landed, but the gap didn't feel quite that wide. Garrett gave up one takedown in the closing stages of each of the first two rounds before giving up two takedowns in Round 3. That's an area he's going to have to clean up moving forward, but this was a very solid win as a +175 underdog in enemy territory.

Saturday's fight scrapped
Armfield's field against Jose Johnson has been cancelled, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.

There was a medical issue with Johnson and there was not enough time for the UFC to be able to find a replacement fighter. Armfield has now had his last two bookings cancelled following a rough showing at his promotional debut last July against David Onama.
