Morgan Charriere
The Last Pirate

France
Gets right back in win column
Charriere defeated Nate Landwehr via KO (punches) at 0:27 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Nashville.
ANALYSIS
Charriere was non competitive in a unanimous decision defeat to Nathaniel Wood in London in March, so it was nice to see him find a victory here in a hostile environment. Morgan started quickly, damaging Landwehr with plenty of leg kicks early on. Yet, as is almost always the case, Nate was able to work his way back into the fight. He appeared to have all the momentum as Round 3 began, at which point Charriere just floored the gas pedal and got Landwehr out of there with a handful of massive blows along the fence. The win got even sweeter after Charriere was awarded an extra $50,000 after this matchup was given Fight of the Night honors. The 29-year-old has more ability than his 3-2 career mark with the company would lead you to believe, but Charriere's biggest struggle has been consistency -- it will be interesting to see if he can get some momentum going his next time out.

Routed by Nathaniel Wood
Charriere lost to Nathaniel Wood via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in London.
ANALYSIS
Fresh off an impressive knockout win over Gabriel Miranda in Paris in September, Charriere could get nothing going here against Wood as a very slight favorite (-125). He was dropped by a huge shot in Round 1 and was lucky to survive the frame. Although he was never in real trouble again, Charriere made little headway offensively, so there wouldn't be any comeback. A long-time Cage Warriors standout, Charriere has gone 2-2 in his first four UFC bouts, with the two wins coming via knockout and the two defeats via decision.

Statement win in Paris
Charriere defeated Gabriel Miranda via KO (punch) at 0:27 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Paris.
ANALYSIS
Finding himself a shocking -550 favorite on the heels of a split decision defeat to Jose Marsical in April, Charriere managed to pay off despite the slow start. He was never in significant trouble in Round 1 despite allowing a pair of takedowns to Miranda. Once the bell rang for Round 2, Charriere uncorked a sweeping left which floored the Brazilian and forced referee Marc Goddard to immediately step in. Charriere had been wildly inconsistent on the European regional scene prior to his UFC arrival, so it would be shocking to see him suddenly put things together at the highest level.

New opponent in Paris
Charriere will now face Gabriel Miranda at UFC Paris on September 28, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Charriere was originally supposed to face AJ Cunningham, who was forced to withdraw earlier this week for undisclosed reasons. He now draws an opponent in Miranda who will be over a year between fights following a March cancellation. Charriere, who fights at featherweight, will be giving up height and reach advantages to Miranda, a former lightweight fighter. He'll have the home crowd behind him fighting in his native France.
