Joins Bayer Leverkusen
Poku has signed a contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2030, joining from AZ Alkmaar, his new club announced. "Ernest is an excellent wing player who will make a special contribution to our attack with his speed and dribbling ability. He is tricky and assertive; with his pace and dynamism, Ernest expands our footballing options enormously," said Sporting Director Simon Rolfes.
ANALYSIS
Poku has earned 14 caps for the Dutch U21 team and made 48 appearances for Alkmaar in the Eredivisie along with 10 appearances in the Europa League. He is joining Leverkusen as a young addition to the frontline that has lacked depth since the departure of Florian Wirtz. Poku will likely compete for a starting role under new coach Ten Hag for the Werkself.

Likely to join Leverkusen
Poku is expected to complete a permanent transfer to Bayer Leverkusen in the coming days, according to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany.
ANALYSIS
Leverkusen are expected to make a move for a winger in case Amine Adli departs the club in the summer. Poku has been a dominant attacking force in the Eredivisie, and he might be ready to make the move to a more competitive environment. He'd certainly welcome a move to Leverkusen since that'd allow him to play in the Champions League in 2025/26.
