Continues rehab in Chicago
Ekitike traveled with Liverpool's squad to their preseason training base in Chicago as he continues rehabilitating his Achilles injury, the club announced.
ANALYSIS
Ekitike's debut campaign was cut short in April when he suffered the injury during a Champions League quarterfinal loss to PSG, having produced 11 goals and four assists in 28 Premier League appearances before the setback. The injury also forced him to miss the 2026 World Cup, and his inclusion on the trip points to continued monitoring of his recovery under the club's medical staff. Part of the 2026-27 campaign is still expected to be affected by the layoff. Ekitike is expected to keep working through his rehabilitation program while accompanying the squad through the preseason tour.

Undergoes surgery
Ekitike (Achilles) revealed he underwent successful surgery on his ruptured Achilles tendon and will begin the long road of recovery. According to manager Arne Slot, "But I think in such a long rehab process there are so many crucial steps to be made before you can actually say it's going to take that amount of months or that amount of months. It's going to take a long time. Everybody can know that if you call the first surgeon and ask him how long is this injury going to take, they will tell you multiple months. Then it all depends on how rehab goes. He's a very explosive player so usually that's not helpful if you have this injury."
