Ekitike (Achilles) returned to the AXA Training Centre this week for an assessment of his recovery from his Achilles injury, the club posted.

Ekitike (Achilles) revealed he underwent successful surgery on his ruptured Achilles tendon and will begin the long road of recovery. According to manager Arne Slot, "But I think in such a long rehab process there are so many crucial steps to be made before you can actually say it's going to take that amount of months or that amount of months. It's going to take a long time. Everybody can know that if you call the first surgeon and ask him how long is this injury going to take, they will tell you multiple months. Then it all depends on how rehab goes. He's a very explosive player so usually that's not helpful if you have this injury."

Ekitike suffered a rupture of the Achilles tendon during the first half of Tuesday's Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain and is ruled out for the season and the World Cup with France, according to the club.

Ekitike suffered a possible Achilles injury in the first half of Tuesday's UCL game against PSG. After the game, coach Arne Slot commented "Not too good. I think we could all see that it didn't look well and didn't look good. Let's wait and see what it will be. But we could all see it didn't look good".

Ekitike recorded two shots (one on target) in Saturday's 4-0 loss to Manchester City.
