Isak is coming off his best season as a professional, lighting the league up with a career-high 23 goals, finishing second in the Golden Boot race. He added six assists and had multi-goal contribution games in six different outings. While seemingly dealing with a nagging injury the majority of the second half of the season, he battled through and started 34 matches. His summer has been thrown into disarray as he pushes for a move away from Newcastle. With reports that he is refusing to play for the club again it's hard to see him suiting up on Tyneside during the 2025/26 campaign. If he does get his move to Liverpool he would remain one of the top strikers in the league and an elite option in all competitions.
Off with groin injury
Isak was forced off with a groin injury at half time of Wednesday's 5-1 win over Frankfurt, manager Arne Slot said in a press conference. "When he came, he hardly had trained, so you bring him step by step forward and then you feel there must be a moment where he can play twice a week - he did it with Sweden as well. But the first time we tried he had to go off and let's hope it is not that bad. He had to come off because he felt his groin. Many people told me they wanted me to play him more and we had to find the balance and unfortunately that balance didn't work out for us today perfectly. Let's hope for the best."

"I was positively surprised by how fit he was during that 60 minutes but that maybe, probably, tells you that it might be a difference to sign a 20-year-old from a different league or a 25- or 26-year-old that is used to playing in this league. Although he only trained for two weeks, he has so many games under his belt that he is probably more able to be ready for 60. Yeah, a good start, only 60 minutes and now we have to build him up from here. But I can tell you he is not going to play 90 again on Saturday."
