Marc Pubill

Pubill made 19 La Liga appearances in his first season at Atletico, scoring his first goal for the club on the final day against Villarreal while adding one assist, 25 tackles, 20 interceptions and 85 clearances across the campaign. Signed as a right back from Almeria, he ended up playing the bulk of his minutes as a makeshift center back after injuries to Jose Maria Gimenez opened the door, and he held his own physically in a more central role than expected. His season was interrupted by a rib injury, which limited his consistency at times. Pubill's versatility across multiple defensive positions gives manager Diego Simeone a useful chess piece heading into 2026/27, even if his long-term path to regular minutes may hinge on where Atletico's other defensive signings settle into the squad. His underlying defensive numbers suggest he can hold value in deeper formats that reward tackles, interceptions and clearances.
