DraftKings MLB: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Alex Wood, LAD vs. CWS ($9,600): The lefty has won consecutive games and allowed just three runs through 12 innings. However, he hasn't been able to ring any batters up with just six strikeouts over the two-game stretch. The White Sox enter with a fifth-ranked 24.3 strikeout percentage against southpaws since the All-Star break, and their .306 wOBA is well below the .340 mark they posted in the first half. Wood also boasts a 28.9 strikeout percentage at Dodger Stadium.

Marco Estrada, TOR vs. TB ($7,400): As a finesse pitcher, Estrada can be prone to poor stretches, but he appears to be in the midst of a bounce-back run with a 2.08 ERA and 1.04 WHIP over his past four outings. The Rays enter with a league-worst .272 wOBA and the second-highest strikeout percentage (27.0) against right-handed hurlers in the second half, too. Estrada's salary also offers cap relief.

CATCHER

Tyler Flowers, ATL at COL ($3,700): Atlanta has been rotation backstops, so it looks like Flowers will grab the opportunity to face Kyle Freeland on Tuesday. Flowers owns a .429 on-base percentage and .384 wOBA against southpaws this year. Kurt Suzuki's ($3,700) numbers are even better against lefties, so he's an easy pivot if he starts over Flowers.

FIRST BASE

Edwin Encarnacion, CLE at MIN ($4,500): While this isn't the traditional handedness advantage against Bartolo Colon, Encarnacion has posted a .417 wOBA against right-handed hurlers in the second half to improve his year-long mark to .365. Colon has also surrendered a higher wOBA (.390) to right-handed hitters than lefty bats for the campaign.

SECOND BASE

DJ LeMahieu, COL vs. ATL ($4,600): For the campaign, LeMahieu sports a .444 on-base percentage and .422 wOBA against left-handed hurlers, and those marks climb to .508 and .464 at Coors Field. Sean Newcomb has held right-handed hitters to a pedestrian .312 wOBA for the year, but this will also be his debut start at Coors, so LeMahieu remains a strong lean.

THIRD BASE

Justin Turner, LAD vs. CWS ($4,000): The third baseman enters with a .406 on-base percentage and .374 wOBA against right-handed hurlers this season, and receives the added boost of hitting in the heart of the lineup. Miguel Gonzalez isn't an intimidating matchup with a .342 wOBA allowed to right-handed hitters this season, either.

SHORTSTOP

Trevor Story, COL vs. ATL ($3,800): With a 1.039 OPS, .375 ISO and .419 wOBA against lefties at Coors Field this season, Story is an affordable option with significant upside. As noted, it's not a juiciest matchup against Sean Newcomb, but Story's numbers are difficult to ignore.

OUTFIELD

Jay Bruce, CLE at MIN ($4,500): With a rock-solid .266 ISO and .372 wOBA against right-handed hurlers this season, Bruce is a strong option against Bartolo Colon. The veteran righty has surrendered a .367 wOBA to left-handed hitters for the campaign. Bruce pairs with Edwin Encarnacion for a high-upside, cost-effective stack, too.

Odubel Herrera, PHI at SD ($3,900): The outfielder boasts a high-end .445 wOBA through 89 second-half plate appearances against right-handed hurlers, so this salary checks out as a solid discount. The matchup is also ripe with opposing starter Dinelson Lamet having surrendered a target-worthy 2.0 HR/9 and .388 wOBA to left-handed hitters.

Nick Williams, PHI at SD ($3,700): After posting a .905 OPS against right-handed pitchers through 202 at-bats with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Williams has continued to shine against righties in the majors. He takes a 43.0 hard-hit percentage and .354 wOBA into the noted soft matchup against righty Dinelson Lamet.
