Starting Pitching:

Henderson Alvarez, Marlins - Alvarez, sidelined with right shoulder inflammation, threw around 50 pitches in a simulated game Saturday. He had a solid spring, earning a 3.55 ERA and 11:3 K:BB ratio before being placed on the 15-day DL on March 31. Due to a setback in his recovery, the Marlins placed Alvarez on the 60-day DL in early-May. He figures to require multiple rehab games down the line before Miami will entertain the idea of activating him from the DL. It's unclear at this point whose spot in the rotation he would assume upon returning, especially with Nathan Eovaldi expected to be back shortly. Mixed: $0; NL: $3 (very early spec bid)

Hiram Burgos, Brewers - Burgos, on the 15-day disabled list Friday with right shoulder impingement, will make a rehab start Monday for Low-A Wisconsin. He really struggled over his last three starts after pitching well in his first three, and it's certainly possible that the sore shoulder was contributing to his issues. It's uncertain how long exactly the stint will last, but chances are Burgos will need to make at least one more rehab start before coming off the DL. Burgos is a finesse-type righty who shot up the organizational chart for the Brewers in 2012, going 10-4 with a 1.95 ERA in 28 games, including 27 starts, across three levels. He is not a big strikeout pitcher, but he averaged 8.1 K/9 last season and dropped his WHIP to a career-best 1.04. In three starts at Triple-A Nashville this season, Burgos has posted a 2.70 ERA and a 14:2 K:BB over 16.2 innings. His fastball tops out around 91 mph, but he mixes in a change, curve, slider and cutter to keep hitters off-balance. The Brewers have been using relievers like Alfredo Figaro and Tom Gorzelanny as starters recently, and if Burgos pitches well in his rehab starts, he could reclaim a spot in the rotation. Mixed: $0; NL: $3.

Tony Cingrani, Reds - Manager Dusty Baker said Cingrani "is the likely choice" to fill the open spot in the Reds' rotation that will come up Tuesday, especially after he was scratched from his scheduled Triple-A start Friday. Cingrani went 2-0 with a 3.27 ERA and 41:9 K:BB ratio in 33 innings over six starts with the Reds earlier this season but was sent down due to the other five starters also pitching well. Hopefully, Cingrani used the time in the minors to be more efficient with his pitches and reduce his overreliance on his fastball; two issues he had in his first stint in the majors. Johnny Cueto, who Cingrani is replacing, hopes to be back June 16 but his lat strain may sideline him longer than that, which would keep Cingrani up in the big leagues. Mixed: $2; NL: $7 (up if you think Cueto misses several starts).

Gerrit Cole, Pirates - Cole, selected first overall in 2011, is to be called up and make his major-league debut starting Tuesday for the Pirates. In 12 starts for Triple-A Indianapolis this season, Cole posted a 2.91 ERA with a 47:28 K:BB ratio over 68.0 innings with seven shutout innings in both of his last two starts. Cole began 2012 with High-A Bradenton, where he compiled a 2.69 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 67 innings. His 69:21 K:BB helped make the decision to promote him to Double-A any easy one. Pitching for the Curve, Cole registered a 2.90 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 59 frames, to go along with a 60:23 BB:K. He throws two fastballs; a four-seamer that hits close to 100 mph but is flat, along with a two-seamer that sits in the low-90s and has good movement. He also has a hard-biting slider and changeup in his repertoire, giving him ace stuff. Mixed: $11; NL: $27.

Ross Detwiler, Nationals - Detwiler, out since May 15 with a strained oblique, made his first rehab start Saturday with High-A Potomac, allowing one run on seven hits with four strikeouts while going 3.2 innings. The Nationals hope that Detwiler will only need the one start and then rejoin the rotation Thursday. Detwiler finally established himself as a bona fide major league starter in 2012. He does not get a lot of strikeouts, but succeeded thanks to a 50.8 percent groundball rate and an infield full of potential Gold Glovers behind him. This year, he was off to a solid start, posting a 2.76 ERA in eight starts, but had allowed 56 hits in 45 innings, driven by a .334 BABIP, nearly 60 points above last year's mark, along with a middling 23:10 K:BB ratio. Mixed: $2; NL: $7 (weak K ratio hurts the bid slightly).

Nathan Eovaldi, Marlins - Eovaldi, profiled two weeks ago, is inching closer to a return. He gave up four runs on six hits and four walks in his third rehab start Tuesday, so the Marlins want him to make at least one more minor league start to work on his mechanics. That start will come at Double-A Jacksonville, after which the Marlins will decide whether or not to activate him from the disabled list. Eovaldi posted mediocre results including a 4.15 ERA and 1.47 WHIP over his first 56.1 innings pitched for LA last year before being shipped to Miami in the Hanley Ramirez trade. He showed flashes over the second half with the Marlins, but struggled with his command to the tune of a 44:27 K:BB that accompanied a 4.43 ERA and 1.54 WHIP for his new club. Like Henderson Alvarez, Eovaldi was penciled into the Miami rotation, but he too landed on the DL just before the same with a shoulder injury that was supposed to keep him out a month. Mixed: $1; NL: $4 (early speculative bid).

Stephen Fife, Dodgers - Fife was recalled by the Dodgers and started last Monday against the Padres in place of Chris Capuano (triceps). He held the Padres to one run on five hits and two walks over 5.1 innings to earn another start Saturday with Capuano heading to the 15-day disabled list. Fife allowed two runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out seven against the Braves. Last year, Fife's minor league numbers (4.66 ERA, 1.49 WHIP) were far from impressive, but when needed for spot duty in Los Angeles, he delivered a 2.70 ERA in five starts. The 26-year-old averages just 89 mph with his fastball and his minor league walk rates are decent, but far from spectacular. This year, he posted a 4.61 ERA and 1.74 WHIP at Triple-A, but still got the call. Fife is expected to hold down a rotation spot while Capuano is sidelined, especially with Ted Lilly landing on the DL, though he could conceivably lose his spot if he doesn't pitch well. Mixed: No; NL: $2.

Alfredo Figaro, Brewers - Figaro, who made what looked to be a spot start last week, has replaced Mike Fiers in the Brewers rotation. He hasn't been great in his three outings, but with Milwaukee's rotation a mess, he could get a few more chances. Figaro may be removed from the rotation when Chris Narveson (finger) returns in a couple weeks, but his fantasy value gets a short-term boost thanks to his recent change in role. Mixed: No; NL: $2.

Tom Gorzelanny, Brewers - Gorzelanny moved into the starting rotation, pitching four innings while allowing one run on five hits with three strikeouts on Saturday against the Phillies. Gorzelanny had started just one game since 2011, but with the Brewers in desperate need of starters and lacking many options in the minors, they gave him a chance. As expected he was limited on his length he could last in the game and threw 58 pitches in the outing. There is no word yet on if he will remain in the rotation for another start yet but it definitely could be a possibility especially since he pitched well on short notice. Mixed: $0; NL: $3.

Jeremy Hefner, Mets - Hefner has pitched fairly well of late, as he looks to keep his rotation spot with Zack Wheeler getting called up next week. His outing Tuesday was his third straight quality start and seventh of his 10 starts this season. Hefner has lowered his ERA to 4.61 to go with a 1.23 WHIP and 49:21 K:BB ratio in 64.2 innings, including a 19:3 ratio in 19 innings in those aforementioned three starts. The Mets have to decide which one of Hefner, Dillon Gee or Shawn Marcum will lose their rotation spot to Wheeler following their doubleheader against the Braves on June 18. If Hefner continues to pitch well, one of the other two contestants are likely to end up with the short straw. Don't expect many wins but Hefner could post decent numbers in the other pitching categories. Mixed: $1; NL: $4.

John Lannan, Phillies - Lannan, making his first rehab start as he works his way back from a strained ligament in his knee, allowed one earned run on six hits in four innings for High-A Clearwater on Friday. He will make his next rehab start Wednesday with Double-A Reading. Lannan, out since April 17 with the injury, could be ready for his return to the majors after a few more rehab starts. Lannan spent most of 2012 in Triple-A, but made six starts after Steven Strasburg was shut down. The Nats non-tendered him in the offseason before the Phillies elected to give him a one-year, $2.5 million deal in December. Lannan entered spring training as the favorite to win the fifth starter spot, which he did with little difficulty. He tinkered with a circle grip this spring to get a little more separation between his fastball and changeup. If he is successful, it could help him be more effective against right-handed hitters, improving his overall numbers. Mixed: $0; NL: $2.

Charlie Morton, Pirates - Morton (TJS) was profiled two weeks ago when it was announced he would make two rehab starts before replacing Jeanmar Gomez in the Pirates' rotation. It turns out Morton made a third start, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts in 6.1 innings Saturday for Triple-A Indianapolis, throwing 64 of his 96 pitches for strikes. Morton will likely be activated from the disabled list some time next week, and with injuries piling up in the Pittsburgh rotation, there should be a spot available for him. Before getting injured last year, Morton registered a 4.65 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 50.1 innings. When he's on top of his games, the right-hander utilizes a sinking fastball that seemingly coaxes groundballs at will. The problems are that he does not record a lot of strikeouts and he at times struggles with his command, leading to a high-walk total. Mixed: $2; NL: $7.

Ross Ohlendorf, Nationals - Ohlendorf "will likely" be called up to start on Wednesday for the Nationals against the Rockies. Ohlendorf was thought to be a call-up candidate this weekend with rain delays for the Nationals but it turns out there is now a need for a starter on Wednesday. He pitched five innings on Friday for Triple-A Syracuse allowing two runs on one hit and also had three walks and this would put him on schedule for Wednesday. With Ross Detwiler to be activated on Thursday and Stephen Strasburg scheduled to return June 16, this would likely just be a spot start for Ohlendorf. Mixed: No; NL: $0.

Jake Westbrook, Cardinals - Westbrook, out since May 8 with elbow inflammation, will make his second minor league rehab start Sunday, this time with Low-A Peoria. He made a rehab start with Double-A Springfield on Tuesday and allowed one run in 3.2 innings. Westbrook was reportedly encouraged by the outing and could rejoin the Cardinals as early as next week. Prior to being sidelined, Westbrook had a stellar 1.62 ERA but a 1.46 WHIP due to a 19:18 K:BB ratio. He is a groundball machine, as seen by his 3.25 GB:FB ratio, but his FIP ERA is 3.69, so expect a rise in his ERA when he returns to St. Louis' rotation. Mixed: $5; NL: $14 (in case he was waived when he had the setback and rumors were he was going to see Dr. James Andrews).

Zack Wheeler, Mets - Wheeler, the Mets' top pitching prospect, will be called up to start for the Mets. The recent rainouts mean he will start anywhere from Friday June 14 against the Cubs to June 18 in Atlanta against his hometown Braves. In late-May, Wheeler missed one start due to inflammation in the AC joint in his shoulder, but he has not had any problems since returning and has shown he is ready for the promotion. Following the start, news filtered out that Wheeler could be called up to the majors after making 2-3 more starts at Triple-A Las Vegas with June 12 a possible target date, though that could depend on when the Super Two arbitration cut-off date is. Wheeler has not delivered amazing results (4-1, 4.14 ERA) this season, but by all accounts, he possesses the sort of stuff that is ready for the big leagues. His fastball was clocked at up to 100 miles per hour during a recent start, allowing him to strike out over a batter per inning this season. Wheeler usually has a mid-90s fastball that tops out at 98 along with a mid-80s slider and developing changeup. In addition, he has a nasty and bulldog mentality on the mound. When he is called up, Wheeler will join Matt Harvey and Jon Niese in the Mets' rotation, and his upside is one reason why their fanbase is hopeful for the future. Mixed: $8; NL: $22.

Covered last week - Jeff Francis, Rockies (activated and started Saturday after being sidelined since May 14 with a groin injury. Mixed: No; NL: $0); Matt Magill, Dodgers (called up last week and started for Hyun-Jin Ryu. He was sent down after the start to make room for Yasiel Puig. Ted Lilly landed on the DL with a neck injury, prompting LA to call Magill back up to start for Lilly. Mixed: $0; NL: $2); Roy Oswalt, Rockies (inching closer to the majors. He has opt-outs if not up June 18 or 28 so look for him I some team's rotation by then. Mixed: $2; NL: $7 (early spec bid)); Tyler Skaggs, Diamondbacks (no surprise that je will remain in the rotation in place of the injured Brandon McCarthy. With Daniel Hudson likely to need a second TJS, Skaggs should have shot at remaining in the rotation for a while, but he needs to show more consistency. Mixed: $4; NL: $11)

Relief Pitchers:

Davis Aardsma/Jose Contreras/Ian Krol/Edgar Olmos/Curtis Partch/Ryan Reid/Kevin Siegrist/Burch Smith - This week's middle reliever call ups/acquisitions were in New York, Pittsburgh, Washington, Miami, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, St. Louis and San Diego. The only one on this list to have some fantasy value is Aardsma, who could get some holds in New York setting up Bobby Parnell. All except Aardsma -Mixed: No; NL: $0; Aardsma - Mixed: $0; NL: $2.

Chris Hatcher, Marlins - Hatcher pitched a perfect ninth inning with one strikeout on Thursday against Triple-A Albuquerque to earn his 18th save of the season. He continues to dominate after hitting a slight rough patch in early May. Hatcher has allowed just one run over his last 10 appearances (12 innings) and has seven saves in that span. He has 93 mph fastball while mixing in a slider and a changeup to retire hitters. Hatcher has the tendency to walk a few too many but has gotten himself out of most jams without much concern. In addition, he has a propensity to allow home runs, which has hurt in prior major-league stints. Given the struggles of the Marlins' pen, especially the back-end of it, Hatcher could earn himself a call-up at some point this season. Mixed: $0; NL: $2 (early speculative bid).

J.J. Putz, Diamondbacks - Putz, who has been out since early-May with a sprained UCL, threw a bullpen session Saturday. He likely will need several more of those before he is able to begin a rehab assignment. The higher-stress sessions that began Saturday with mound work will provide a better indication of just how sound his elbow is. If he has no setbacks, Putz may come off the DL later in June. Whether or not he gets his closer role back is underdetermined, as Heath Bell has been solid racking up saves in Putz's absence. Mixed: $2; NL: $7 (up substantially if you think he gets the closer's job back).

Trevor Rosenthal, Cardinals - Rosenthal pitched another scoreless inning Friday in the Cardinals' 9-2 win over Cincinnati. He struggled a bit in April but has been lights out since that time, allowing no earned runs across the last 17.1 innings. Rosenthal has a 1.80 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 42 strikeouts against just four walks in 30 innings this season. He projects to be the long-term answer at the back end of the bullpen, if he does not get another chance at starting. Mixed: $2; NL: $7.

Injury activation - Jim Henderson, Brewers - (hamstring, activated Sunday, should regain closer role, especially when Francisco Rodriguez notches his 300th save; he is at 298 now).

Catchers:

Steve Clevenger, Cubs - Clevenger had been out since April 13 with an oblique injury, but after resting for about six weeks, he began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Monday. The Cubs carried three catchers earlier in the season due to Clevenger's ability to play the corner-infield spots, but it's unclear if they plan to do the same again once Clevenger is activated. Mixed: No; NL: $0.

Steve Lerud, Phillies - The Phillies purchased Lerud's contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday to replace Erik Kratz, who landed on the disabled list with his knee injury. Lerud and Humberto Quintero will share catching duties for the Phils until Carlos Ruiz returns from the disabled list. Mixed: No; NL: $0.

Carlos Ruiz, Phillies - Ruiz has made good progress since landing on the disabled list a couple weeks ago with a Grade 2 strained right hamstring, and though he will not be activated Tuesday when first eligible, he should not miss much more time. He hopes to begin a rehab assignment next week and Ruiz is trying to return before the end of the Phillies' upcoming road trip, so he remains on track to return sometime in mid June. (Just an FYI as still should be owned in all formats.)

Covered last week - Tim Federowicz, Dodgers (seeing most of the action behind the plate with A.J. Ellis out, Mixed: $1; NL: $4)

First Basemen:

Joe Mahoney/Logan Morrison, Marlins - Mahoney and Morrison, profiled two weeks ago, each get another mention as Mahoney is expected to be activated Monday while Morrison beat him to the majors by a day, returning to action Sunday to replace Chris Coghlan, who was placed on the DL with a right calf nerve irritation. Mahoney, out since April 29 with a strained hamstring, was rehabbing at High-A Jupiter with Donavan Solano and Giancarlo Stanton, He lasted less than two weeks on the Marlins' roster after beginning the season on the DL with an oblique injury. Morrison, who was on the 60-day DL rehabbing from offseason knee surgery, went just 10-for-55 during that rehab stint but was activated to try and provide some offense to an anemic Marlins' squad. Last year, Morrison hit .310 in April before sputtering through the summer and eventually being forced to the DL with a knee injury that required the September surgery; the same knee that gave him trouble down the stretch in 2011. The expectation is that Morrison will start at first base while Mahoney fills a bench role. That could change as the Marlins have the option of playing LoMo in left field, shifting Juan Pierre to center, sitting the slumping Justin Ruggiano and playing Mahoney or Casey Kotchman at first, but that is an unlikely scenario. Mahoney - Mixed: No; NL: $2; Morrison - Mixed: $4; NL: $11.

Chris Marrero, Nationals - Marrero was recalled for Sunday's doubleheader against the Twins and may remain with the Nationals beyond Sunday. Marrero has swung a solid bat at Triple-A Syracuse this season hitting .306/.355/.502 and shown increased power with 10 home runs and 44 RBI in 55 games. Indications are he will be summoned as more than the 26th man for the doubleheader and stick around with the team given his improved bat. The Nationals have Adam LaRoche at first base and the struggling Tyler Moore, who surpassed Marrero last year when he was sidelined by his hamstring injury, mostly working in left field, the only position in the field Marrero has played at Triple-A this season is first base. He does have corner outfield experience in the minor leagues but has not played there since 2007 so he may be limited for at-bat opportunities. Mixed: No; NL: $2.

Second Base:

Tony Abreu, Giants - Abreu was activated off the disabled list on Saturday. A knee injury, suffered in spring training, has kept Abreu on the shelf up until this point, but now that he's healthy, the 28-year-old will likely step into a utility infield role for San Francisco. Abreu hit .300/.341/.450 in 15 rehab games with Triple-A Fresno. Nick Noonan was sent down and Ryan Vogelsong (hand) was moved to the 60-day DL to make room on the active roster for Abreu. Mixed: No; NL: $0.

Scooter Gennett, Brewers - The Brewers recalled Gennett from Triple-A Nashville on Monday. Gennett joined the big club for the fist time after posting a .297/.342/.376 slash line in 50 games with Nashville. He progressed step-by-step up the ladder, batting at least .290 at each stop with a little bit of speed and minimal power. Rickie Weeks continues to struggle, as his overall batting average is under the Mendoza line and he is hitting just .165 against righties. Gennett could end up in a platoon with Weeks, starting against right-handers, but at a minimum, he will cut into Weeks' playing time. Mixed: $0; NL: $3

Aaron Hill, Diamondbacks - Hill, out since mid-April with a broken left hand, took batting practice prior to Friday's game. He seems to be advancing nicely in his rehab, as he had been hitting off a tee and hitting soft toss lobs over the previous two days. Hill could set out on a rehab assignment next week if the team seems comfortable with how his broken hand has healed, which is great news since there was some concern that his hand may need surgery if the bone continued to heal improperly, which does not appear to be the case. Until Hill returns, the Diamondbacks will continue to use the quartet of Martin Prado, Willie Bloomquist, Josh Wilson and Cliff Pennington to cover his second-base duties. (Just an FYI, as still should be owned in all leagues, but if not, early spec bid of Mixed: $11; NL: 27.)

Henry Rodriguez, Reds - The Reds called up Rodriquez on Friday. While Brandon Phillips (forearm) is back in action Friday, the Reds decided to bring Rodriguez up for some extra help around the infield with Pedro Villareal optioned to Triple-A Louisville. However, this stint in the majors may be a short one for Rodriguez, with the team needing a spot for Tony Cingrani on Tuesday. Mixed: No; NL: $0.

Chase Utley, Phillies - Utley out since May 21 with a strained right oblique said Friday that he believes he can rejoin the Phillies by the middle of the month. He indicated that he feels like he's now capable of swinging a bat, but has yet to do so as a safeguard against any sort of setback. Utley expects to receive clearance to begin hitting over the next few days and would likely need to complete a brief rehab assignment before rejoining the club. (Just an FYI as still should be owned in all formats.)

Covered last two weeks - Donovan Solano, Marlins (targeting a Monday return from his strained oblique to Miami. Will platoon at second base with Derek Dietrich and possibly play some games at third, Mixed: $1; NL: $4)

Shortstops:

Jordy Mercer, Pirates - With Clint Barmes struggling, Mercer could be in line for more playing time in the short-term. Barmes went 0-for-4, dropping his average to.204, which could open the door for Mercer to see more starts, even against righties, but certainly against southpaws. Mixed: No; NL: $3

Third Basemen:

Joaquin Arias, Giants - Arias replaced Pedro Sandoval in Saturday's game and would be the likely candidate to take his spot in the lineup if Sandoval can't go the next few days due to his strained left foot. Arias batted .270 in 344 plate appearances last season with the Giants and has had just 59 at-bats so far this season. He offers a combination of light power and light speed. Arias' true value comes from his multiple position eligibility, having both shortstop and third base eligibility in most leagues. Mixed: No; NL: $2.

Covered the last two weeks - Anthony Rendon, Nationals (was promoted to the majors after a short stint at Triple-A Syracuse due to Danny Espinosa landing on the DL with his wrist injury. He will see most of his action at second base while also spelling Ryan Zimmermann at third. Mixed: $4; NL: $14 (upped bid from prior weeks and go higher if think he sticks when Espinosa returns in a few weeks)).

Outfielders:

Kyle Blanks, Padres - Blanks, profiled last week, gets another mention due to his fine play and role that has now opened up for him. He went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead two-run homer on Saturday against the Rockies, making him 12-for-27 with three home runs and eight RBI over his last eight games and upping his batting average above.300. Blanks was expected to be sent down with Cameron Maybin returning to action, but he got a reprieve as Yonder Alonso will miss around a month with his broken hand. Jesus Guzman and Mark Kotsay will also see time at first base, but look for the Friars to ride the hot hand in Blanks for the time being. Mixed: $4; NL: $11.

Tyler Colvin, Rockies - The Rockies called up Colvin on Saturday. He is up for his first stint with the big club this season to help out while Michael Cuddyer (oblique) is on the mend. Last year, injuries in the outfield opened up a spot for Colvin and he took advantage of it, hitting .290/.327/.531 with 18 homers and 10 triples in 420 at-bats. Colvin was unable to lock up a spot on the 25-man roster this spring, but he's hit .293/.396/.518 with nine homers and 29 RBI in 55 games with Triple-A Colorado Springs so far this season. Colvin could see time in right field and first base. Mixed: $0; NL: $2.

Adam Eaton, Diamondbacks - Eaton, who has been sidelined with a sprained UCL in his left elbow since late in spring training, will begin throwing Monday. In effect, Eaton will be starting his rehab process over after he developed soreness in his elbow during in late May just as he was nearing a return. With Eaton likely to add further baseball activities to his rehab in the coming weeks before eventually embarking on an assignment, it could take over a month before he makes his season debut with the big club. When he does return, Eaton should assume the role as starting center fielder and play close to every day, despite Geraldo Parra and A.J. Pollock filling in nicely for him. Selfishly, I hope he does, as I have him in three leagues and could some good news after losing Daniel Hudson for the year in those leagues. Mixed: $3; NL: $9 (very early spec bid, in case he was waived when he was injured and/or had his setbacks).

John Mayberry, Phillies - Manager Charlie Manuel said Wednesday that Mayberry "will get to play more," which has proven to be the case, as Mayberry has now started five straight games. Manuel is using Mayberry in center and right field as well as occasionally at first base. If Delmon Young, who has shown some signs of life, does not get hot, Mayberry could take over semi-regularly in right field. Mixed: $3; NL: $9 (mild spike in value).

Cameron Maybin, Padres - Maybin, who was sidelined with an impingement to his right wrist from mid-April and was profiled two weeks ago, gets another mention as he returned to action his past week. Chris Denorfia and Will Venable filled in admirably in center field in his place, so Maybin will need to produce to keep his job. Maybin returned to action after an nine-game rehab assignment, during which he went 10-for-31 with four RBI and a 6:7 K:BB ratio, but his propensity for falling into long slumps could cost him playing time at some point. It should be noted he was batting a measly 3-for-33 (.091) prior to suffering the wrist injury but is 4-for-14 in his first three games since returning. Maybin had a so-so 2012, but was better in the second half after making a change in his batting stance, which enabled him to make better contact. The wrist is reportedly not 100 percent but Maybin is playing with it, though he could shut it down late in the year if it bothers him and San Diego is out of it. Mixed: $4; NL: $13.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Mets - Nieuwenhuis was called up prior to Sunday's game. Nieuwenhuis will be back up with the big club following Rick Ankiel's designation for assignment. The 25-year-old Nieuwenhuis logged just 16 at-bats in 13 games with the Mets earlier this season, but playing time will likely be more abundant this time around. Though Nieuwenhuis has hit for just a .232 average in 36 games with Triple-A Las Vegas so far this season, he's gotten on base at a .339 clip and slugged 10 homers, most of them coming in the past two weeks. Nieuwenhuis struggled with good fastballs last year with the Mets, so look for pitchers to challenge and make him proof that he can handle them. With Ankiel gone, look for Nieuwenhuis to see most of his time against righties with Juan Lagares starting mainly against lefties. Mixed: $2; NL: $7.

Juan C. Perez, Giants - Perez was called up to the Giants on Friday. He continued to hit since his promotion to start the year to Triple-A Fresno, slashing .296/.331/.507 with nine homers and 34 RBI in 57 games this season. He joined the big club with Angel Pagan (hamstring) needing a DL stint, but that stint has been backdated and Pagan will be eligible to return next week, so it's uncertain how long Perez will be in the majors. Even while Perez is up in the majors, Gregor Blanco and Andres Torres should see most of the action in center field. Mixed: No; NL: $0.
