2021 Fantasy Outlook
Brosseau was a fun little story in 2020. He came into the season with an impressive minor-league hitting track record, especially for someone who was an undrafted free-agent signee. He had mostly settled into a nondescript, short-side platoon role for the club until Aroldis Chapman threw 101 over his head in a September game and started a kerfuffle. Brosseau came back the next night and homered in his first at-bat, hit another one in that same game and later got revenge against Chapman in the ALDS. He can play a few spots around the diamond but is unlikely to fill in a full-time role, especially on this team. While he has hit well in the minors, his swing and spray chart tilt toward someone that opposing teams will shift hard against, thus reducing his chances to hit for average. The infield versatility on draft day is nice in AL-only formats, but there's nothing more here hiding in the weeds. Read Past Outlooks

Increased reps at shortstop on tap
Brosseau will get increased reps at shortstop during spring training, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Brosseau could begin the season in a depth role and work mainly against left-handed pitchers, but his increased defensive versatility could give him more opportunities to enter games as a pinch hitter or defensive substitution. The utility player appeared in 37 games for the Rays last year, posting a .936 OPS with five home runs and 12 RBI.

2020 Fantasy Outlook
Brosseau ascended quickly through Tampa Bay's system, going from High-A ball to the majors in only two years. He has wielded an effective bat at every minor-league level and earned his callup to Tampa Bay last season after slashing .304/.394/.567 with 16 home runs in 315 plate appearences with Triple-A Durham. Brosseau continued to hit with the big club, batting .322 over his first month and finishing with a .273 average and .329 wOBA. He showed some punch at the plate to boot, tallying six home runs and seven doubles en route to a .189 ISO. Brosseau came to the Rays as a free agent after going undrafted in 2016, but he has taken the opportunity and run with it, hitting over .300 in all but one of his minor-league campaigns. He isn't expected to be an everyday player in 2020, but with his steady bat and ability to field multiple positions, Brosseau could fill an important utility role for the Rays.
