2026 Fantasy Outlook
Vesia continues to fly under fantasy radars due to his lack of saves - he's tallied just five in each of the past two seasons and will likely be in that same range for 2026 with the Dodgers signing Edwin Diaz - but he's been a consistent WHIP asset and source of strikeouts for who those who have deployed him in NL-only or deeper mixed leagues. The southpaw's 2.84 SIERA and 0.99 WHIP last season were top-25 marks among qualified relievers, while his 24.5 K-BB percentage ranked 16th. The 30-year-old's fastball velocity has been on a downward trend in recent years, but he held opposing hitters to a mere .169 average on the pitch in 2025, ranking ninth overall for that pitch type. Personal tragedy prevented Vesia from participating in the 2025 World Series, but he's expected to retain his high-leverage role for 2026 as one of the Dodgers' top lefties out of the bullpen. Can't hold lead Thursday
Vesia was charged with a blown save Thursday versus Arizona, as he allowed an inherited runner to score while giving up one hit over two-thirds of an inning.
Analysis
Vesia has been very reliable this season, and he was called upon in the eighth inning with the Dodgers up a run with one out and runners on first and second. The lefty was able to retire the first batter he faced before Geraldo Perdomo stroked a single to center field to tie the game up. It was the first blown save of the season for Vesia, though he still managed to extend his streak of scoreless outings to 10 since the run wasn't charged to him. With Edwin Diaz sidelined due to an elbow injury, Tanner Scott has taken over as Los Angeles' top closer, but Vesia is tied for the team lead with eight holds and has notched two saves while posting a 2.14 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 28:10 K:BB over 21 innings spanning 27 appearances.

Vesia has maintained a fairly static pitch mix in recent years without much fluctuation in usage of his fastball (63 percent usage), slider (32 percent) and changeup (five percent, exclusive to right-handed batters). While he lost a tick of velocity on his four-seamer (93.4 mph average velocity) and slider (85 mph), opposing hitters struggled to square up against these offerings. Vesia permitted a mere .106 BA and .136 SLG on his slider, which produced a 40 percent whiff rate. Overall, strikeouts were well above average at 33.1 percent (95th percentile) while walks remained an issue. Vesia had one of the highest discrepancies (-1.69) between ERA (1.76) and FIP (3.45) thanks to an extremely low BABIP (.195) and 64.7 fly ball percentage that was highest among relief pitchers. He can still be effective, however, as he enters his age-29 season as the Dodgers' top (non-closer) lefty out of the bullpen.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Rediscovers dominant fastball
Vesia has given up just six hits in 62 at-bats against his four-seam fastball this season.
Analysis
The left-hander tallied a save and 16 holds with a 2.15 ERA in 2022, but he was less reliable in 2023 with a 4.35 ERA and 1.39 WHIP. Opposing batters hit .273 against Vesia's fastball last season, but he's been dominant with the pitch early in 2024. Evan Phillips remains locked in as the Dodgers' closer, but Vesia should continue to fill a high-leverage role and has two saves and four holds this year.
