September 15, 2025
Triple-A Rochester reinstated Eder (undisclosed) from its 7-day injured list Wednesday and assigned him to Double-A Harrisburg.
Analysis
Eder made his organizational debut later that day, striking out a batter and allowing one hit and no walks over two scoreless innings. The 26-year-old lefty occupies a spot on the Nationals' 40-man roster, but he may not get a look with the big club over the final two weeks of the season unless the Washington pitching staff is decimated by injuries.

Stat Review
How does Jake Eder compare to other relievers?
This section compares his stats with all relief pitcher seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 30 innings)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.

* Exit Velocity, Barrels/BBE %, Balls Hit 95+ MPH %, and Spin Rate are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 30 IP). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.
  • K/BB

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Eder showed significant promise in 15 starts at Double-A in 2021 before needing Tommy John surgery, but he hasn't been able to recapture that form since returning to game action in June of last year. The Marlins sent him to the White Sox for Jake Burger, and the 6-foot-4 southpaw's stock continued trending down after the trade. At his best, Eder showed a plus fastball and a plus slider with decent enough command to start, but he had a 14.1 percent walk rate and decreased fastball velocity at Double-A in 2023. The best thing that can be said about him for dynasty is that the White Sox should give him every opportunity to succeed as a starter in the coming years. He could make his MLB debut in 2024, but he doesn't need to be held this offseason unless you play in a very deep format.
Eder, who underwent Tommy John surgery in September 2021, should be fully healthy for spring training this year. The superb 15 starts he made at Double-A in 2021 are the only pro innings under his belt, as he was advanced enough to completely skip the lower levels in 2021 and didn't pitch in 2020 after the Marlins selected him in the fourth round in 2020. A big 6-foot-4 southpaw with a plus fastball and plus slider, Eder logged a 25.1 K-BB% and 50.3 GB% at Double-A, so we haven't seen him meet much resistance. His changeup is a middling third pitch and his command is good enough for him to project as a starter. The Marlins have a lot of quality young starters, so Eder should be allowed to put the finishing touches on his development while building up his innings in 2023 before joining the big-league rotation in 2024.
