Nabs win in relief Monday
Garcia (5-1) earned the win over Seattle on Monday, allowing one hit and striking out two batters over one scoreless inning in relief.
ANALYSIS
All-Star Tyler Anderson gave the Angels 5.2 innings of one-run ball but received no offensive support while he was in the game. Garcia entered in the eighth with the game tied 1-1 and was effective despite throwing just 10 of 19 pitches for strikes, as he yielded only an infield single and fanned the final two batters he faced. The righty reliever then moved into position for the victory when Los Angeles scored twice in the top of the ninth. Garcia has been one of the team's top high-leverage options this season and has been very effective of late, posting a 1.32 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 11:4 K:BB over his past 13.2 innings spanning 12 appearances. He's notched four wins and five holds over that span.

After playing for four different teams in his previous four seasons, Garcia signed a 2-year deal with San Diego and primarily served in a setup capacity. He was especially valuable in fantasy leagues that count holds, notching 20 (T-6th in the NL) during his age-35 season while also contributing four wins and three saves. The right-hander maintained above-average strikeout and walk rates while inducing plenty of ground balls with his 99 mph sinker. His slider (57% whiff rate) and spitter (40%) were fantastic put-away pitches and he slightly increased his usage of both. Garcia is likely third in San Diego's hierarchy for saves behind Josh Hader and Robert Suarez, but expect plenty of holds again in 2023 with the occasional save chance.

Likely to get dealt
According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Angels are expected to trade Garcia ahead of the July 30 deadline.
ANALYSIS
The veteran right-hander joined the Halos on a one-year, $4.25 million contract during the offseason, so he's a prime candidate to be traded as a reliever on an expiring contract. Garcia has three saves and nine holds this season with a 4.25 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 36:12 K:BB across 36 innings.
