The New York Knicks will host the Washington Wizards at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday evening.
The Knicks (23-35) looked like a potential playoff team early in the season, but they have been struggling badly of late and have not been able to muster a run of positive results over the past few weeks. The season-ending injury from Kristaps Porzingis might play a role in the team's recent run, but the are riding their worst stretch of the season since they are in the midst of a seven-game losing streak. Their most recent game was a 92-108 loss against the Philadelphia 76ers, and that game ended a three-game road trip. This game against the Wizards at home will be the final contest for the Knicks before the All-Star Game. Will they be able to end the losing skid right on time before the All-Star Break?
The Wizards (32-24) have been dealing with the absence of John Wall due to injury, but the team has managed to stay afloat and remain near the top of the Eastern Conference sitting eight games over .500. They are coming off a 101-90 win over the Chicago Bulls the last time, and while that win ended a two-game losing run, it is worth noting that they have a 4-2 mark over their last six games while playing without their star point guard. This game against the Knicks is in the midst of a three-game road trip, in which they already defeated Chicago and it will end after the All-Star break against the Cleveland Cavaliers. They have a 15-14 mark away from home.
This will be the second meeting between Wizards and Knicks this season. Washington won the last game between these two, 121-103, on January 3.
