After three seasons with the Pacers, Brissett signed a two-year deal with the Celtics this summer. The wing finds himself on a new team with surprising depth issues. While the starting five for Boston might be championship worthy, the departure of Grant Williams exposes what was already a weak bench, particularly at the wing. Brissett and Sam Hauser are expected to fight for Williams' now-open 26 minutes per game. Brissett's defensive versatility should give him the nod over Hauser. But some of that time will go to newly-acquired Kristaps Porzingis. Brissett's defensive hustle is often impressive, but it needs to be due to his ugly shooting. In three of his four NBA seasons, the Syracuse product shot worse than 42 percent from the field. Last season, over 65 games, the wing shot a poor 38.6 percent from the field and 31.0 percent from behind the arc. In other words, Brissett is much more "D" than "3". Boston fans do not need more retched three-point attempts -- there were plenty of those last season. If Hauser finds his stroke (42 percent career three-point shooter) and continues to improve his defense, Brissett could find himself deeper on the bench. Regardless, Brissett should get opportunities to prove himself, but it's whether he can convert those chances into meaningful playing time is yet to be determined. Keep in mind, Brissett's 25 starts in 2021-22 were for a Pacers squad that went 25-57.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Could return to Boston
Brissett remains a free agent but said he hasn't ruled out a potential return to Boston for the 2024-25 season, according to Lauren Campbell of MassLive. "I love every single part about being a Boston Celtic. And I could go back, who freakin' knows? Hey, the door's not closed fully. There's still a spot on the team. Who knows?"
ANALYSIS
Brissett declined a $2.5 million player option for 2024-25 to test the free-agent market, but it seems things haven't gone as he would have expected to. Brissett stated that he enjoyed his year in Boston despite not playing as much as he'd hoped, and it's unclear if he'll push for a return to Boston or will continue to explore opportunities somewhere else. The 26-year-old appeared in 55 regular-season games after signing with the Celtics last summer, but he played a career-low 11.5 minutes per night while averaging 3.7 points and 2.9 rebounds.
