Hampton was the 24th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. He debuted with the Nuggets on Dec. 28 against the Rockets. He played four minutes and posted two points and one rebound. He played 25 games for the Nuggets -- 2.6 points and 2.0 rebounds in 9.3 minutes -- before being traded to the Magic on March 25. He was dealt with Gary Harris and a first-round pick to Orlando for Gary Clark and Aaron Gordon. He debuted for the Magic March 28 against the Lakers. In 17 minutes, he posted 10 points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal. He appeared in 26 games with the Magic (one start) and averaged 11.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 25.2 minutes. Overall, between both Denver and Orlando, the rookie shot 43.5 percent from the field, 31.0 percent from three and 67.1 percent from the charity stripe. He set single-game career highs of 19 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and two blocks. Arguably his best overall performance was May 3 against the Pistons. In 35 minutes, Hampton recorded 16 points (5-11 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), 10 assists, seven rebounds, two blocks and one steal with just one turnover.
