N.F.L. Draft Trivia

One of the greatest things about the NFL Draft is that you truly never know what is going to happen…  Aaron Rodgers falling to the 24th pick in 2005...  The Detroit Lions selecting a wide receiver in the first round in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007.  And, if this year's draft plays out as suggested by Mario Puig in his blog Three-Round Mock Draft (Includes top-10 trade), it would mark the first time a running back was not selected in the first round.

With that in mind, I offer up the following N.F.L. Draft trivia (running back style):

  • What team was the last to select a running back with the overall No. 1 draft pick, and who was he?
  • Three running backs were selected with the overall No. 1 draft pick and went on to lead all rookie rushers that year.  Name them.
  • In the previous 44 N.F.L. drafts (the common draft was instituted in 1967) there was only one where just one running back was selected in the first two rounds.  In what year was that draft, who was the lone running back selected, and by which team?
