Al-Amir Dawes
GuardG
Eyeing starting PG role

September 5, 2019
Dawes has a path to becoming the starting point guard for Clemson in 2019-20, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
This was always a possibility for the consensus top-100 recruit, as Clemson lost both primary ball handlers -- Shelton Mitchell and Marcquise Reed -- to graduation in the offseason. That leaves a backcourt wide open to newcomers, and Dawes appears the most likely candidate to fill the point guard role, where he'll be complemented by the likes of fellow freshman Chase Hunter and transfers Curran Scott and John Newman. Getting on the nationwide fantasy radar will be tough on a team that doesn't project for a whole lot of success, but Dawes can still hold value in leagues that place a premium on freshman.
