DraftKings CFL: Grey Cup Value Plays

DraftKings CFL: Grey Cup Value Plays

This article is part of our DraftKings CFL DFS Picks series.

We've reached the final game of the 2019 CFL season, with the Tiger-Cats and Blue Bombers set to fight it out in the 107th edition of the championship game. Both teams have survived season-ending injuries to the quarterbacks they started the year with, a testament to the rest of each squad's skill players and the signal callers that have stepped in. With the available DFS contests for this week being rolled out in Showdown format, there are no positional requirements to worry about, as each slot carries a Utility designation.

With that said, let's dive in one final time this season and see what some of the top options for your cash games and GPPs are!

DraftKings CFL Plays - Grey Cup Showdown Slate

Brandon Banks, HAM ($13,300): Banks is the highest-priced player on this Showdown slate, and there's little wonder why. The versatile veteran was excellent once again this season, finishing with a 112-1,550-13 line through the air over 16 games before recording four receptions for another 100 yards in last week's Eastern Division Final over the Eskimos. The Blue Bombers finished the campaign allowing 303.4 passing yards per game, as well as the most completions of at least 30 yards. Banks punished the Bombers secondary the last time he saw it Week 16 as well, posting a 8-113-1 line on his way to 30.85 fantasy points. Throw in the possibility he might get some carries and return opportunities – as well as the fact he's averaging 26.0 fantasy points per contest after last week's strong showing – and you have justification for investing despite the hefty salary.

Dane Evans, HAM ($12,700): One of the primary reasons for Banks' eye-popping season was Evans, who excelled in the starting job after taking over for Jeremiah Masoli (knee). Evans finished the regular season with five games of more than 300 yards passing over his last six, including a 452-yard effort against the Redblacks in Week 19. He victimized Winnipeg in one of those contests, racking up 359 yards and three passing scores on his way to 29.96 fantasy points. The Blue Bombers' vulnerabilities to the pass were already alluded to in Banks' entry, and in addition to the numbers previously cited, it's also worth noting Winnipeg allowed the third-most touchdown passes (27) this season. Evans is likely a good bet for at least 35 pass attempts in this game, an amount of volume that he's been able to parlay into eye-popping yardage more often than not.

Bralon Addison, HAM ($11,300): Addison was another breakout member of the Tiger-Cats' high-powered offense in 2019, with the dual threat setting new career bests across the board. Addison followed up his 95-catch, 1,236-yard regular campaign with 23.0 fantasy points in last week's win over the Eskimos on the strength of a 7-130 line. The third-year pro also totaled 218 rushing yards this season on just 36 carries, and he generated 19.6 fantasy points when he last faced the Bombers in Week 16. Addison has seen between six and 12 targets in 11 of his last 12 contests, including last week's playoff tilt, making him an excellent target in this matchup if you can afford him.

Darvin Adams, WPG ($9,200): Adams' teammate Nic Demski ($5,000) is an excellent cost-savings pivot as well if you really need to save some dollars, but Adams could offer the highest upside of the Blue Bombers' pass catchers in this contest. The Tiger-Cats check in allowing 270.3 passing yards per contest, while Adams has quickly developed a rapport with quarterback Zach Collaros. Adams has connected with Collaros on six occasions for 198 yards and a touchdown thus far this postseason, and he has three straight games with double-digit fantasy points overall. The veteran wideout seemingly has better chemistry with Collaros already than he did with Chris Streveler, and he offers some strong upside due to the downfield routes he's often entrusted with. Additionally, Adams is even good for an occasional pass attempt on a trick play, which the Bombers could opt to dust off to catch Hamilton by surprise in this high-stakes matchup.

Cameron Marshall, HAM ($7,000): The one other primary running back option at your disposal in this game is the Blue Bombers' Andrew Harris, and at a salary of $10,800 that he hasn't come close to paying off his hefty costs in all but one game since Week 17, he's a risky proposition to say the least. That leaves Marshall as a main target at a reasonable price, even as there are some questions about his workload. Marshall saw a modest nine carries in last week's Eastern Division Final win over the Eskimos, but he flashed a ceiling north of 30 fantasy points against the Argonauts back in Week 21 and is far from an unproven commodity after a pair of successful campaigns in recent years, including a career-best one in Winnipeg back in 2015 during which he accounted for 992 total scrimmage yards and seven total TDs. The Bombers were the stingiest run defense in the CFL by far (64.2 rush yards per game) this season, but Marshall also has a pass-catching role out of the backfield and saves you a significant amount of salary over Harris.
