2023 Fantasy Outlook
Mordecai transferred to Wisconsin in order to prove that he could replicate the gaudy numbers he posted at SMU — 7,152 yards and 72 touchdowns over the past two seasons — at the highest level of college football. Mordecai has been the unquestioned starter since he stepped on campus, and he’ll join a Wisconsin team that’s completely revamped their offense under new coordinator Phil Longo. The Badgers are set to operate in Longo’s pass-heavy air raid and move away from their traditional run-first, pro style offense. How smooth that transition will be remains to be seen, but it certainly looks like Wisconsin has the personnel to deploy one of the most dangerous offenses in the Big Ten. With plenty of experience returning on the offense line, a dynamic one-two backfield punch in Braelon Allen and Chez Mellusi, as well as an influx of talented wide receivers via the transfer portal, Mordecai has all of the weapons to facilitate an explosive offense. Shows off athleticism Week 4
Mordecai completed 17 of 27 passes for 174 yards and one interception during Friday's 38-17 win versus Purdue. He also had 14 rushes for 44 yards with two touchdowns along with two receptions for 19 yards and a two-point conversion.
ANALYSIS
Mordecai showed more control of the offense than he did during his first three outings with the Badgers. Specifically, this offense started to accentuate his athleticism, as he opened the game rushing for a 19-yard touchdown on a QB keeper followed by a six-yard scramble to the pylon on the Badgers' ensuing drive. The SMU transfer successfully piloted the Badgers to a comfortable win, and the only glaring flaw on his box score was an interception on a tight-window throw that was wrestled away from his wideout in the third quarter. Mordecai also recorded two receptions on reverse trick passes from wideout Will Pauling, including a 19-yard hookup in the first quarter and a two-point conversion to end the game. Wisconsin will now be on bye Week 5 ahead of its homecoming game against Rutgers on Saturday, Oct. 7.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
A battle with the highly touted Preston Stone looms and a new coaching staff means that he and Mordecai are on equal footing, but there’s reason to believe Mordecai wins the job. He threw for 3,628 yards and 39 touchdowns last season and the offense should remain up-tempo as Rhett Lashlee’s Miami had a nearly identical play-per-game mark as SMU did in 2021. Mordecai will provide high passing volume and has a loaded receiver group at his disposal. The Stone issue shouldn’t be brushed aside by Mordecai investors but Mordecai projects to start for this prolific offense.
