Trelon Smith

Smith filled in for the banged-up Rakeem Boyd in his first season with the Hogs in 2020, and proved more than capable as Boyd’s replacement. The Arizona State transfer rushed 134 times for 710 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 5.3 yards per carry. Smith crossed the 100-yard plateau in two of the final four contests of the season, including career highs of 172 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in a shootout loss at Missouri. With the aforementioned Boyd now in the NFL, Smith has a stranglehold on the starting running back job. The Hogs will likely have a new quarterback under center in the form of KJ Jefferson, and as Jefferson has rushing ability as well, reliance on the running game will be paramount for Arkansas. Smith is also a viable receiving option out of the backfield, and was surprisingly durable despite his lack of elite size.
