Fifth ODI Preview: India vs. West Indies

India and West Indies are ready to clash in the fifth and final ODI of the series in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. The home side are leading the five-match series with a 2-1 margin after registering eight wicket and 224-run victories in the first and fourth ODI.

In the final game of the series, the team will be once again relying on in-form captain Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma to score bulk of the runs, whereas in the bowling department, the onus will be on spinner Kuldeep Yadav and pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar to deliver the knockout punch.

On the other hand, the visitors will look at this match as an opportunity to finish the series on the equal terms, a result which will be nothing less than winning the series itself. In the batting department, the focus will be once again on in-form duo of wicketkeeper-batsman Shai Hope and middle-order batsman Shimron Hetmeyer to score bulk of the runs for the team, whereas in the bowling department, the onus will be on spinner Ashley Nurse to provide breakthroughs.

The Greenfield Stadium is located in the city of Thiruvananthapuram, which is the capital of the state of Kerala. The venue will be hosting its first one-day international on Thursday. The pitch is expected to be good for batting and is likely to help bowlers who will take pace off the ball due to its dry nature.

Key Players:

Key Players:

Khaleel Ahmed – 8 Cr

First in the list of key players features young India pacer Khaleel Ahmed. The left-armer had a great outing in the fourth ODI where he claimed figures of three for 13 and helped the Men in Blue in registering an impressive win. Valued at 8 Cr, Ahmed might prove to be a vital acquisition as he brings something different to the table as far as India's bowling lineup is concerned and has great change-of-pace variety as well.

Shikhar Dhawan – 10 Cr

Second in the list features veteran India opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan. The left-hander has had a horrid time in the series as he's only managed to score 106 runs in four matches at an average of 26.50 and is clearly under pressure going in to the last match of the series. Keeping Dhawan's past record in view where he performed time and again in matches where his place is at stake, the Deccan Chargers opener, who is valued at 10 Cr, might prove to be more than decent purchase for the game on Thursday. Till now, the 32-year-old has represented India in 114 ODIs, scoring 4,929 runs at an average of 46.06.

Jason Holder – 9 Cr

Last in the list features West Indies captain Jason Holder. The veteran all-rounder is having a decent series overall where he has scored 136 runs at an average of 45.33 and also has two wickets to his name as well. Valued at 9 Cr, Holder might prove to be a good purchase for the series decider as he has already shown that he is more than capable of performing with both and ball for the team.
