Mumbai Indians vs. Sunrisers Hyderabad: 51st IPL Match Preview

After 12 games, Mumbai Indians sit on third spot in the table with seven victories - one more than fourth-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad. SRH scored 212 for 6 as they defeated Kings XI Punjab by 45 runs in the last game, but they will be without this season's leading run-scorer David Warner, who has left the league to join the Australian camp ahead of the World Cup.

MI on the other hand faced a huge loss to KKR in their last game against Kolkata Knight Riders, who scored 232 runs in their 20 overs. This game is of immense importance in the points table as well. If MI win, they will seal their play-offs berth, while SRH will go to 14 points and will need to win their last match to enter the top-four.

Pitch Conditions: The pitch here at Wankhede will be a run-feast, which should mean a paradise for the batters. However, SRH are sans David Warner and with Bairstow already gone, the loss of the two is sure to hit them. SRH have struggled in the batting department with players like Williamson and Shankar yet to come to the party. MI are more balanced with a lot more experience, and they walk into this match as favourites.

Player Recommendations:

Wicket-keeper: Quinton de Kock (9.5 credits)
De Kock came into the IPL with form behind him, and he has carried that forward into the edition as well. He is MI's highest run-scorer with 393 runs in

Player Recommendations:

Wicket-keeper: Quinton de Kock (9.5 credits)
De Kock came into the IPL with form behind him, and he has carried that forward into the edition as well. He is MI's highest run-scorer with 393 runs in 12 innings with three fifties, and against an inconsistent SRH seam attack on a flat deck, he will want to carry forward his form.

Batsman: Rohit Sharma (9.5 credits)
The India opener has been inconsistent in the IPL, amassing only 307 runs. In a crucial game, Mumbai Indians will rely on his heroics, and with the World Cup around the corner, Sharma will be eager to get some form behind him.

All-rounder: Hardik Pandya (10 credits)
Pandya stole the attention from Russell in the last game against KKR, which shows the kind of impact he had in the match. The younger Pandya made 91 runs in only 34 balls and has scored 355 runs in total in IPL 2019 with a stunning average of 50.71. His strike-rate of 198.32 in this tournament this year is second only to Russell. Along with his heroics with the bat, he has been on fire with the ball as well, picking 10 wickets and needless to say he will be the key player.

Bowler: Jasprit Bumrah (9 credits)
Bumrah, like Rohit has not set the stage on fire but has been an underrated performer. Though he has only 13 wickets - below-par by his standards - he has bowled with an economy rate of just over 6.6, which is enough to put the pressure on the batters. If he can bowl as he has been bowling thus far, against a wobbly SRH unit, he is sure to strike.

Uncapped Player: Suryakumar Yadav (9 credits)
Suryakumar is yet another MI batter who has not performed as per expectations. With 269 runs at a strike-rate of 128.70, he has been underwhelming. But he was a revelation last season with 512 runs, and given his skills and his knowledge of the pitch, it would be foolish to rule him out.

Captain: Hardik Pandya
Vice-captain: Quinton de Kock

Predicted Playing XI:

Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, Evin Lewis, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Suryakumar Yadav, Anukul Roy, Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Martin Guptill, Wriddhiman Saha, Manish Pandey, Mohammad Nabi, Kane Williamson, Rashid Khan, Vijay Shankar, Abhishek Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Sandeep Sharma
