CS:GO: The New Challengers Day 2 Recap

This article is part of our CS:GO series.

Day 2 of the ELEAGUE Major Boston New Challenger stage was full of action with mousesports demolishing Na'Vi, while Vega Squadron stunning FaZe Clan. Four teams have now established their 2-0 record moving into Day 3, including Cloud9 and G2 Esports. Leading up to Day 3 an abundance of teams will be looking to grab their second win to avoid the threat of elimination, however, let's take a step back and see what Day 2 had in store.

Team Liquid (1-1) vs. FlipSid3 Tactics (0-2): The first match of Day 2 came early for viewers as Liquid kept the score tight and had a well developed economy early, despite losing the pistol round. Unfortunately, Liquid began to crumble and eventually had their economy broken, which allowed FlipSid3 to advance their lead. While a Liquid force buy got the North Americans right back in the game to settle an even half. In the second half, the fast-paced offense from Liquid was too much to handle for FlipSid3 as Nick "nitr0" Cannella and co picked up the opening 16-10 win on Cobblestone.

mousesports (2-0) vs. Natus Vincere (1-1): The rematch from DreamHack Winter came back around as mouz looked to have revenge on Na'Vi, and they did just that. Mouz opened up the series on Mirage with a clean pistol round win and from there it was pure dominance. Chris "chrisJ" de Jong had a blowout performance that helped his team take a massive 13-2 score into the half. Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko couldn't find a weak spot in mouz, who then secured the thrashing 16-2 win on Mirage.

Space Soldiers (1-1) vs. AVANGAR (0-2): The third match of the day once again landed on Mirage between the Turks of Space Soldiers and the CIS-region of AVANGAR. The first-half was all Space Soldiers who picked up an early 5-0 lead. Although AVANGAR did manage to break the Turks economy to peel back the Space Soldiers lead at the end of the first half. After switching sides, Space Soldiers put their foot down and established their dominance on the defense to hold eight out of ten rounds for the 16-9 victory.

Renegades (1-1) vs. Team EnVyUs (0-2): Renegades evened out their record on Day 2 with a convincing win over EnVyUs. The series started on Cache where nV stamped their 2-0 lead early, but Renegades would bring it right back with three straight rounds. EnVyUs returned the favor, but couldn't stop the Aussies from running off with the 10-5 half. Despite losing the second pistol round, Renegades returned with six straight to close out Cache 16-6.

Quantum Bellator Fire (1-1) vs. Flash Gaming (0-2): QB Fire opened up Inferno with an aggressive pistol round win but Flash were quick to respond to even the score. From there, QB Fire continued their aggression to pick up a 4-1 lead but Flash contested to even the score once again. Both teams couldn't establish their dominance and settled with an even 8-7 half. The second half continued this dance before QB Fire gained control of the game and picked up a 16-13 Inferno win.

Cloud9 (2-0) vs. Sprout Gaming (1-1): Sprout Gaming opened up the series by securing the pistol round for the offense. Cloud9 then forced in the following round and it paid off by securing the round and establishing a firm 7-1 lead. Not giving Sprout any wiggle room, Cloud9 dominated the Europeans en route to a 13-2 half. Sprout began to play their game in the second half but Cloud9 were quick to respond and picked up the remaining three rounds to secure the 16-5 on Inferno.

Vega Squadron (2-0) vs. FaZe Clan (1-1): One of the deadliest rosters on paper was heavily favored going into the matchup, but Vega had something in store for the Euros. Vega Squadron immediately stumped FaZe in the first half for a 6-0 lead on the defense as Finn "karrigan" Andersen struggled to find a way around the CIS defense. FaZe did not seem confident going into the second half as Vega stuck to their game plan and stunned FaZe for a 16-6 win on Inferno.

G2 Esports (2-0) vs. Misfits (1-1): Nathan "NBK" Schmitt opened up the series on Cobblestone with a triple kill to help secure the pistol round win for G2. The team then followed up to secure the anti-eco and tagged on three more rounds for good measure. Misfits could only muster up one round in the first half as G2 dominated the first half for a 14-1 score. The second half was quick and easy for G2 as Misfits did put up a fight, but it wasn't enough to close for a 16-5 win for the French.

Day 3 action will begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m. ET with Quantum Bellator Fire taking on a shaken FaZe Clan.
