I loved Brian Thomas Jr. coming into the season. I thought he was a legit OPOY sleeper coming off a monster rookie campaign. What I didn't realize was how Shane Waldron would torpedo that.
You can't tell me Shane Waldron isn't the NFL's biggest curse.

Waldron is the pass game coordinator for JAX this year after several OC jobs. There's an interesting tweet I saw where every time Waldron left an offense, that WR1 broke out. It happened with Cooper Kupp, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Rome Odunze. Now he's victimizing BTJ.

Whether that gets straightened out or not remains to be seen. However, no pass catchers for the Jags have really stepped up into the "big dog" role. The thing that concerns me this week is the KC defense. Aside from the fact that they have allowed the 9th fewest yards to WRs (coming into Week 5), DC Steve Spagnuolo usually likes to put the opposing offense's best WR in a blender. Aside from the Chargers game, Zay Flowers is the only wideout to have over 60 yards, which was because of a big blowout. The point is that this secondary has been pumping.
BTJ has yet to eclipse more than 55 yards in a game this season. He's averaging just 41.0 per game, which trails tight end Brenton Strange.
His number was actually 59.5 coming into the week. At some point, the LSU product should have that signature breakout performance, but I don't think it's happening this week. The lack of volume doesn't help his case either.
Perhaps BTJ has a big one this week, but I'm riding this under train until we see something change in north Florida. Give me the under.
