2025 Fantasy Outlook
A sixth-round pick in 2023, Rodriguez spent last season bouncing between the practice squad and the Commanders' active roster, but he was effective when called upon. The Kentucky product averaged 4.9 yards per carry, albeit on just 35 totes, and the majority of his production came during a Week 13 tilt against the Titans in which he turned 13 carries into 94 yards and a touchdown. The Commanders traded Brian Robinson in August, potentially opening up a role for Rodriguez as a power runner alongside dual threat Austin Ekeler, although the team is also said to have high hopes for rookie seventh-round pick Jacory Croskey-Merritt. Washington likely will deploy a backfield committee, with Rodriguez a candidate for short-yardage carries and any other work that prioritizes powerful running. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Leading rusher on SNF
Rodriguez recorded 12 rushes for 65 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-14 loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Rodriguez's final line was aided by garbage time, as he found the end zone and picked up 38 yards in the final eight minutes of game time. However, his role in the Washington offense is still noteworthy, as he was out-touched only 13-12 by Jacory Croskey-Merritt, a split that was only mildly skewed by opportunity late in the game. While Rodriguez isn't likely to take over lead-back duties in Week 10 against the Lions, it appears he may be in line for an increased role.

2023
A 2023 sixth-round pick, Rodriguez didn't get double-digit snaps on offense until Week 11 last year but flashed upside once he did. He averaged 4.8 yards per carry, and his 2.4-yard average after contact would have been a top-five mark in the league if he'd seen enough volume to qualify. Rodriguez suffered a season-ending ankle injury Week 16, and while he should be healthy in time for training camp, he'll like be third on the depth chart behind Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler. It is possible new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury isn't as fond of Robinson as the old coaching staff was, and the 224-pound Rodriguez can offer a similar element of powerful running between the tackles.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
More opportunity awaits in '25
Rodriguez is slated for more opportunities, including in short yardage and at the goal line, following the trade of Brian Robinson to the 49ers on Friday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
A stout 224 pounds, Rodriguez has impressed in limited opportunities over his first two seasons while averaging 4.9 yards per carry and scoring four touchdowns across 22 regular-season games. Rodriguez brings a completely different skill set than new No. 1 back Austin Ekeler, who's considerably lighter and a particularly adept receiver. Rodriguez, who's already seen 18 red-zone touches in his first 22 career games, may be set to inherit many of the ample short-yardage and red-zone opportunities Robinson leaves behind.
