2025 Fantasy Outlook
Trubisky has developed into a competent backup and boasts the tools (rushing ability and arm strength to threaten downfield) to attempt a facsimile impression of Josh Allen if required. In his only notable action in 2024, a Week 18 loss against the Patriots that had no impact on Buffalo's playoff standing, Trubisky looked serviceable while completing 15 of 21 passes for 101 yards and a score (plus four carries for 12 yards) before ceding the ball to No. 3 QB Mike White in the third quarter. White's continued presence as a third-stringer provides helpful continuity for this quarterback room. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Tosses Week 18 touchdown
Trubisky completed 15 of 21 passes for 101 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Patriots. He added 12 rushing yards on four carries.
ANALYSIS
Josh Allen played the first snap to keep his consecutive start streak alive before turning things over to Trubisky, who connected with Ray Davis for a two-yard TD in the second quarter. Trubisky then gave way to Mike White midway through the third quarter. It was the first extensive action of the season for either backup QB, and it will likely be their last, as Allen will take back the reins of the offense when the Bills host the Broncos in the wild-card round next weekend.

Trubisky is back with the Bills after a two-year hiatus in Pittsburgh. After spending 2021 as Josh Allen’s backup, Trubisky left for the Steelers, but he wasn’t good enough to hold off Kenny Pickett nor even Mason Rudolph. His 12-game run in Pittsburgh ended with eight TD passes and 10 interceptions with a 6.6 YPA. The only way he’ll see the field in Buffalo is if Allen is injured, of course. Trubisky has a big arm, but accuracy is not his strong suit. And while he was a running threat his first four years in Chicago, he’s averaged just 2.4 yards per rush the last three years. With Buffalo’s thin receiver room outside of rookie Keon Coleman, Trubisky wouldn’t seem to have much upside in a game-manager role should he take the field.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic relays that Trubisky will be in a lengthy battle with Mike White during training camp for the backup quarterback job behind starter Josh Allen.
ANALYSIS
Although Trubisky was the backup for all of last season, the Bills brought in competition by adding White to the practice squad in late August before signing him to a two-year contract in January. The Bills would save $1.5 million in cap space by releasing Trubisky, but Buscaglia relays that the salary cap will not be the sole factor in whether the Bills keep Trubisky on the 53-man roster. White is a more natural thrower and can connect with receivers in intermediate and deep areas of the field, but Trubisky's mobility allows the Bills to run an offense similar to what they deploy with Allen.
