2025 Fantasy Outlook
Kirk Cousins' departure from Minnesota last offseason dropped Jefferson from his familiar perch as an early first-round fantasy pick, leaving him as more of a mid-round-1 guy amidst concerns about Vikings QBs Sam Darnold and J.J. McCarthy. It ended up being good value, with an average of 18.7 PPR points representing Jefferson's lowest mark since his 2020 rookie season yet still enough to rank second among WRs in total points and fourth in points per game. There seems to be less concern about a new QB this time around, after Jefferson and Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell coaxed 35 TD passes out of Darnold. We don't yet know if McCarthy, last year's 10th overall pick, will end up being an upgrade, a downgrade or about the same as Darnold, but it's safe to say the 22-year-old's statistics will look better than his actual performance. O'Connell not only likes to chuck the ball around but also is among the best at scheming it up, and the Vikings have talented ancillary pass catchers (WR Jordan Addison, TE T.J. Hockenson, WR Adam Thielen) to take some of the heat off Jefferson without truly threatening his volume. If Jefferson goes in the middle part of Round 1 rather than the early part this year, it's seemingly a matter of optimism regarding RBs Bijan Robinson, Saquon Barkley and Jahmyr Gibbs more so than fears about McCarthy. Early ADP feedback has Jefferson safely in the WR2 spot, behind only Ja'Marr Chase. Read Past Outlooks

Scores TD in McCarthy's return
Jefferson secured six of nine targets for 47 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings' 27-24 win over the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Working with J.J. McCarthy as his quarterback for the first time since Week 2, Jefferson finished with team-high reception and target totals while coming just a yard short of drawing even with Jordan Addison for the lead in receiving yards as well. Jefferson's yardage tally was his lowest since Week 1, but his 10-yard touchdown grab to cap off the Vikings' first drive of the contest was also his first trip to the end zone since the opening game of the campaign. Jefferson and McCarthy will continue to build chemistry as the second half of the season unfolds, with their next opportunity coming in a Week 10 home matchup against the Ravens.

Jefferson reached 1,400 yards as a rookie, 1,600 as a sophomore, 1,800 in Year 3 and then looked ready to push for 2,000 early last season. He was already up to 571 in Week 5 when a hamstring injury knocked him out for the fourth quarter and then the next seven games. Jefferson's long-awaited return was spoiled by a chest injury after 13 snaps, but he came back the next week and exploded for 476 yards over the final four games to comfortably clear 1,000 yards for the season (1,074). If not for the two partial games, he almost certainly would've led the league in receiving yards per game for a second straight year, though Miami's Tyreek Hill was the undisputed king for both 2022 and 2023 in terms of per-route production. Jefferson is by no means lacking in that regard -- he's been Top 10 in yards per route in all four of his seasons -- but it helps that he almost never comes off the field when healthy and spent the past two years in Kevin O'Connell offenses that threw the ball 676 (3rd) and 631 (4th) times. O'Connell is still around, but the Minnesota offense is much harder to decipher after TE T.J. Hockenson suffered a late-season ACL tear and QB Kirk Cousins left for Atlanta. While few teams can match the WR pairing of Jefferson and 2023 first-round pick Jordan Addison, there's obvious risk of a down year with Sam Darnold taking the QB snaps.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Day-to-day with hamstring strain
Jefferson has suffered what head coach Kevin O'Connell termed as a "very mild" left hamstring strain and will be re-evaluated next week, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
O'Connell confirmed Jefferson would be held out of all practices until he's reassessed. The four-time Pro Bowl wideout also dealt with a hamstring issue in 2023 and missed seven games as a result, and the Vikings are naturally exercising plenty of caution at this stage of training camp.
