2025 Fantasy Outlook
Rattler had first-round hype early in his college career, but he never matched the promise of a 28-TD season for Oklahoma in 2020, and ultimately landed in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He made six starts as a rookie, losing all six games while averaging just 5.8 YPA and throwing more interceptions (five) than touchdowns (four). Rattler was in a terrible situation, playing behind a supbar offensive line and without the Saints' top two receivers, but it's nonetheless difficult to draw positives from such a brutally bad stat line. He may get another shot to compere for the starting job anyway, as the Saints otherwise are left with 2025 second-round pick Tyler Shough and 2023 fourth-rounder Jake Haener after Derek Carr announced his retirement in May. Mistake-free effort in first win
Rattler completed 21 of 31 passes for 225 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-14 win over the Giants. He added 21 rushing yards on six carries.
ANALYSIS
The second-year QB led the Saints to their first win of the season with another relatively quiet, but turnover-free, performance. Rattler was able to pick his spots against a poor Giants secondary, connecting with Rashid Shaheed on an 87-yard catch-and-run TD in the second quarter. Rattler doesn't appear to be in much danger of losing his starting job to rookie Tyler Shough despite the team's 1-4 record, posting a 6:1 TD:INT and 67.2 percent completion rate, albeit with a poor 5.6 YPA. He'll look to build on this performance in Week 6 against the Patriots.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Rattler was the third selection of the Saints in the 2024 NFL Draft, and he's likely in the cards for the team's future plans at quarterback. However, the fifth-round pick will immediately contend for the backup role behind starting signal-caller Derek Carr. With Jameis Winston gone to Cleveland, Rattler will contend with journeyman Nathan Peterman and 2021 fourth-round pick Jake Haener, the latter of whom has yet to make his NFL debut. Rattler started his collegiate career with high expectations at Oklahoma before losing his job to Caleb Williams in 2021, and he finished with a 19:8 TD:INT at South Carolina in 2023.
