2024 Fantasy Outlook
Rattler was the third selection of the Saints in the 2024 NFL Draft, and he's likely in the cards for the team's future plans at quarterback. However, the fifth-round pick will immediately contend for the backup role behind starting signal-caller Derek Carr. With Jameis Winston gone to Cleveland, Rattler will contend with journeyman Nathan Peterman and 2021 fourth-round pick Jake Haener, the latter of whom has yet to make his NFL debut. Rattler started his collegiate career with high expectations at Oklahoma before losing his job to Caleb Williams in 2021, and he finished with a 19:8 TD:INT at South Carolina in 2023. Available as emergency QB
Rattler (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Rams.
ANALYSIS
The 2024 fifth-round pick will serve as the emergency QB for the third straight game. Starter Derek Carr and backup Jake Haener would have to be injured and/or unavailable for Rattler to see action.

Set for third straight start
Coach Dennis Allen said Wednesday that he anticipates Rattler making a third consecutive start Sunday against the Chargers, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Rattler practiced without limitations Wednesday, suggesting that he's fully over the hip pointer that knocked the rookie quarterback out of the previous Thursday's loss to the Broncos. Conversely, Derek Carr still hasn't recovered from an oblique injury. Rattler has thrown only one touchdown pass across his first two starts, but the rookie quarterback could benefit from the potential return of top wide receiver Chris Olave, who logged a limited practice Wednesday as he continues to work through the NFL's concussion protocol.
