2025 Fantasy Outlook
Stafford’s 2024 closely resembled his previous year, though he fell from QB15 to QB19 in fantasy. His on-target percentage was basically the same (72.0), and his average target depth (7.7 yards) was exactly the same. His YPA dropped only slightly (from 7.6 to 7.3), though he threw four fewer TDs in one extra game. He also curtailed an early season penchant for interceptions, going from 9:7 TD:INT in the first nine games to 11:1 over his last seven. This is pretty much what Stafford is now. He’s fine as a second quarterback in two-QB leagues but doesn’t threaten to do anything more. The Rams released WR Cooper Kupp but signed Davante Adams, which perhaps will help Stafford’s efficiency, and Puka Nacua is a strong No. 1 target. Sean McVay is still around to call plays, and while he remains among the best in the league at it, he's put more emphasis on the Kyren Williams-led rushing attack and less emphasis on Stafford's arm the past couple years. Health has long been an issue for Stafford, even more so now at age 37, and he doesn't add rushing stats even when he's at full strength. Read Past Outlooks

Confidence for Week 1
The Rams remain confident that Stafford (back) will be available Week 1, though he remains absent from practice Wednesday and the team has not provided an expected timetable for his return to the field, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Sean McVay has referred to Stafford only as "week-to-week" while acknowledging that internally Los Angeles has "a plan in place," but he at least said Tuesday he feels "very confident" that the veteran quarterback will take the field Sept. 7 versus the Texans for the Rams' regular-season opener. "What I don't want to do is set a timetable with you guys and then for whatever reason as we're continuing to gain information, that changes," McVay said. In the meantime, Jimmy Garoppolo will continue to handle first-team quarterback reps. It remains to be seen whether Stafford will be back on the field in time to participate in joint practices ahead of Los Angeles' first two preseason games, which will be against the Cowboys on Aug. 8 and the Chargers on Aug. 16.

Stafford bounced back somewhat from an injury-riddled 2022 campaign but still was only QB15 in fantasy last season. That might be his ceiling at this point, though in his last six games he averaged 20.6 fantasy points. Prorated to a full season, that would place him third among QBs. In that stretch he threw 15/3 TD/INT with 8.0 YPA, compared to 9/8 TD/INT with 7.3 YPA in his first nine games. The biggest difference was his red-zone TD rate, which jumped from an absurdly low 13.9 percent to an above-average 28.6. That likely will normalize around league average (23.5 percent) this year, but if his 71.5 percent on-target rate (23rd) doesn't improve or if he doesn't increase his 7.7 average target depth (15th), he's unlikely to be much more than a middling fantasy QB. And that's with good health, which can't be assumed for the 36-year-old, who adds nothing on the ground (65 rushing yards last year in 15 games). Stafford has a solid pair of wide receivers in Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, and No. 3 wideout Demarcus Robinson came on late last season. Running back Kyren Williams gives the Rams a balanced offense, and Sean McVay's still calling plays, so Stafford at least still has plenty of fantasy value in two-QB leagues.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Expected to be ready for Week 1
Stafford remains without an expected return timetable due to a back injury, but the Rams are confident that he'll be available by Week 1, per Cameron DaSilva of USA Today Rams Wire.
ANALYSIS
Stafford's viewed as week-to-week due to back soreness. Jimmy Garoppolo has been filling in for the veteran starter in training camp, but Stafford's expected to be available for the team's regular-season opener against the Texans on Sept. 7. Stafford's lack of reps heading into the season shouldn't affect his command of the offense since he has 222 games of regular-season experience under his belt, the last 57 of which have come with the Rams.
