23-Year-Old Running BackRB
Jacksonville Jaguars
2026 Fantasy Outlook
With 4.32 speed and a smallish frame (5-foot-9, 206), it was assumed that Tuten would function as something like a big-play specialist as a fourth-round pick out of Virginia Tech last year. The Jaguars instead used Tuten more like a short-yardage specialist, of all things, leading to seven TDs on 93 touches. Travis Etienne was the clear starter and the featured back for almost all other situations, but his workload and power limitations necessitated someone else easing the burden. Tuten worked surprisingly well in the role, highlighting the fact that he has considerable raw power despite being short and extremely fast. Tuten also runs with a great deal of motor, so his effectiveness in short-yardage situations might be meaningful rather than a by-default outcome of his role. With Etienne gone to New Orleans, the next question is how much Tuten can take from the work Etienne previously claimed. Free-agent addition Chris Rodriguez is a power back who may get a lot of the short-yardage work that Tuten handled last year, in turn freeing up Tuten to function more like Etienne. There's no guarantee on that front, though, because Tuten probably lacks the vision, pacing and ball security provided by Etienne. Fumbles and drops were major issues for Tuten in college, and there's still huge uncertainty surrounding his NFL projection after a rookie season with two fumbles and only 14 targets. If he can cut back on the mistakes, Tuten has a huge opportunity in front of him to seize the lead role in a productive offense. Read Past Outlooks

Listed as co-starter on unofficial depth chart
RBJacksonville Jaguars
August 11, 2026
Tuten and Chris Rodriguez are listed as co-starters on the Jaguars' initial unofficial depth chart, Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union reports.
ANALYSIS
Preseason depth charts can often be taken with a grain of salt, but in this case the listing aligns with the notion that the Jaguars will employ a committee approach to fill the void created by the offseason departure of Travis Etienne. Also in the mix for backfield touches is LeQuint Allen, who could factor in on third downs. Regardless of how the team's snaps and touches are distributed, Tuten figures to merit fantasy consideration right out of the gate this season.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
Tuten (5-foot-9, 206 pounds) is one of the fastest running backs in the league (4.32 40) and a threat to make defenses pay the long-distance price for poor containment -- but so is Travis Etienne. The difference to Jacksonville is that Etienne is on the last year of his rookie contract, while Tuten, a rookie fourth-round pick, is probably somewhat raw for now. Taking whatever Etienne can give this year before moving to Tuten beyond 2025 is a reasonable plan. To take on a leading role, Tuten will need to significantly improve his ball security and passing-down skills from what he showed at Virginia Tech. Fellow Jacksonville runner Tank Bigsby fumbles too much, yet Tuten's collegiate fumbling in comparison was magnitudes worse. Tuten fumbled 10 times on 428 touches the past two years, and if he keeps coughing it up at anything similar to that rate, he simply will not play. On the other hand, Etienne and Bigsby are vulnerable to competition if Tuten can improve his ball security and become more than just a size-speed freak.

Could be top option in committee
RBJacksonville Jaguars
July 16, 2026
Tuten is expected to compete with Chris Rodriguez for carries throughout training camp, but John Shipley of SI.com believes Tuten will earn a slight edge in usage.
ANALYSIS
Tuten's versatility may ultimately help him lead Jacksonville's crowded backfield in playing time. The 2025 fourth-round pick scored touchdowns on two of his 10 catches during his rookie regular season while adding five touchdowns on 83 rushing attempts, though Tuten averaged a modest 3.7 yards per carry. He's faster than Rodriguez, who caught only six passes across three seasons with Washington, though Rodriguez runs hard and has a career average of 4.6 yards per carry. LeQuint Allen is also in the mix for work in passing situations.
