2022 Fantasy Outlook
Sims is entering his fifth NFL campaign after going undrafted in 2018, and while he has a lot of traits of an effective depth receiver, it's hard to see much upside at this point. He managed only 477 yards in 2020 when he played all 16 games and started 10, before dropping to three starts in 14 games (and just 211 yards) last season. Sims isn't likely to have more opportunities this year, considering Washington used its first-round pick on WR Jahan Dotson. Read Past Outlooks

ANALYSIS
Sims will try to carve out a larger role in Vegas after being buried on the depth chart in Washington since 2018. The 27-year-old wide receiver had eight catches last season.

Sims was buried behind future NFL stars in four seasons at Alabama, ultimately going undrafted in 2018. He's bounced between Washington's roster, injured reserve list and practice squad ever since, finally getting his big break last season when the team got next to nothing from the veterans it cycled through the receiver spots behind Terry McLaurin. Eventually, Sims got a shot, making 10 consecutive starts to close out the regular season. But despite playing at least 74 percent of the snaps in each game, he averaged only 4.5 targets per contest, largely running empty routes to clear out the field for McLaurin and the team's running backs and tight ends. Sims produced 9.3 YPT as a starter (including playoffs), but the 6-5 wideout isn't likely to get enough separation to demand heavy target volume. If anything, he'll look to stick around for another year as the third or fourth receiver, competing with Adam Humphries, Dyami Brown and Steven Sims, among others.
Sims caught on with Washington in 2018 as an undrafted rookie out of Alabama, earning a spot on the Week 1 roster but then suffering an ankle injury on the opening kickoff of the season. After spending the rest of his rookie year on injured reserve, he spent most of 2019 on the Washington practice squad. Sims has a shot at something bigger for the upcoming season, as there's open competition for wide receiver roles behind top target Terry McLaurin. It's a nice opportunity for a little-known player to jump from obscurity to a regular role in the offense. Of course, Washington will also have Steve Sims, Antonio Gandy-Golden and Trey Quinn, among others, competing for those spots.
Sims caught just 41 passes in four seasons at Alabama, struggling to earn targets in an offense dominated by Calvin Ridley and a strong rushing attack. The then earned a spot on Washington's 53-man roster as an undrafted rookie in 2018, only to suffer a high-ankle sprain on the opening kickoff of the regular season. Sims is back in 2019 to compete for a depth job at wide receiver, though he could find his way to a more regular role if the team ever gives up on Josh Doctson.
Sims didn't get much work at the University of Alabama, but he reportedly caught coach Jay Gruden's attention with his impressive combination of size and speed. The undrafted rookie is a long shot to crack the 53-man roster, though his odds did improve when fellow wideout Robert Davis suffered a season-ending leg injury during the preseason.
