2023 Fantasy Outlook
Manhertz signed a two-year deal with the Broncos this offseason, joining his fourth team as he heads into his eighth NFL season. While mainly spending his career as a blocking specialist, the veteran tight end has never exceeded six catches in a season. Manhertz figures to operate in a similar role in Denver, which keeps him off the fantasy radar with Greg Dulcich, Albert Okwuegbunam and Adam Trautman also in the mix at his position. Manhertz is slated to sign a two-year, $6 million deal with the Broncos, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz will join his fourth team as he goes into his eighth season. Primarily a blocking specialist, he's never caught more than six passes in a season. With Greg Dulcich and Albert Okwuegbunam ahead of Manhertz on the depth chart, expect him to continue a similar role with his new team.

How often does Chris Manhertz run a route when on the field for a pass play?
This data will let you see how Chris Manhertz and the other tight ends for the Broncos are being used. Some tight ends may have a lot of snaps, but they're not that useful for fantasy purposes because they're not actually running routes. This data will help you see when this is the case.

Manhertz spent the past four seasons in Carolina and played in all but one game, though he primarily served as a blocker with a combined 11 receptions for 132 yards and a touchdown. The 29-year-old, who had his most productive campaign in 2020 with six catches for 52 yards, inked a two-year, $7.25 million deal with Jacksonville during the offseason. Manhertz should work as the Jaguars' No. 1 tight end, but he's unlikely to provide significant production in the passing game, even if he is more of a target than he has been in previous years.
Manhertz was placed on the PUP list after suffering a foot injury in late July, but is nearing a return halfway through the preseason. The 26-year-old looks to battle Ian Thomas for the Panthers' No. 2 tight end job behind Greg Olsen.
Manhertz is competing to win the Panthers' third tight end spot during training camp. The 25-year-old played four games for the team last season, boosting his chances of maintaining his position.
Manhertz will compete for a roster spot as a backup tight end, but the former Canisius product is unlikely to have a fantasy impact, as he's firmly behind, at a minimum, Coby Fleeer and Josh Hill on the depth chart.
Manhertz is a big tight end early enough in his playing career that he will be a candidate for the Buffalo practice squad.
