2025 Fantasy Outlook
Prescott’s season ended Week 9 last year with a torn right hamstring. He wasn’t having a great campaign to that point, well off his 2023 pace when he finished as fantasy's QB3. That year, he led the league in on-target percentage at 81.2. Last year, his on-target percentage was a career-low 69.6 -- 30th in the league. His 64.7 completion percentage and 6.9 YPA were both seven-year lows, and he had an 11:8 TD:INT. Prescott really struggled in the intermediate part of the field, completing only 50.8 percent of his passes in the 10-19-yard range, with five touchdowns and six interceptions. His rushing rate was significantly down last season as well, and it probably won’t improve this year coming off the injury, though he said in April his hamstring is healthy and he’ll be ready for training camp. Brian Schottenheimer, his offensive coordinator the last two years, is now the head coach, but Mike McCarthy called plays, so it’s possible the change alters Prescott’s equation a bit. The Cowboys finally addressed Prescott's biggest issue, a lack of weapons, by trading for George Pickens in May. A downfield playmaker, Pickens gives Cowboys opponents more to defend than simply CeeDee Lamb, which perhaps will help Prescott in the aforementioned intermediate area. The Cowboys also hope WR Jalen Tolbert will build on his 49-catch season and TE Jake Ferguson will rebound from his zero-TD season. Prescott looks like a borderline starting option in single-QB leagues. Read Past Outlooks

Says hamstring is improving
Prescott said Friday that he is progressing in his recovery from a torn right hamstring to the extent that he could theoretically play now, if needed, per ESPN.com. "If I had to play a game today, I definitely could do that," Prescott stated.
ANALYSIS
Prescott's season came to an end after just eight games last season due to the hamstring injury, and he underwent surgery in mid-November. The veteran quarterback has been rehabbing since, and his comments Friday suggest that everything has gone smoothly in his recovery. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said in late March that Prescott will be limited during the initial portion of the Cowboys' offseason program, but Jones also mentioned that Prescott's rehab was going well. It appears both the organization and the player are eyeing a cautious approach to organized team activities, which begin in May, as Prescott indicated Friday that he'll take part in some capacity but added, "Then again I just understand my age, what I've had, what I've went through, it's about being my best in the fall. So I'm not rushing anything, but I'm where I want to be."

The talk in Dallas entering last season was how run-the-ball Mike McCarthy taking over the playcalling would impact Prescott. Suffice to say, it worked out. McCarthy gave Prescott 590 pass attempts, which propelled him to QB3 in fantasy, as he finished third in passing yards (4,516) and first in TD passes (36). Not only did Dak get volume, but he also was highly accurate, leading the league with an 81.2 on-target percentage and ranking third in completion rate at a career-high 69.5 percent. His high rate of short passes (68.0 percent, 4th) wasn’t out of the ordinary for his career, and he actually threw deep more often than in 2022, as 10.2 percent of his attempts went 20-plus yards (12th) for eight TDs (2nd). CeeDee Lamb was again the lone major threat wideout, but tight end Jake Ferguson added 71 catches and five touchdowns. That’ll be the case again this year, though Prescott's TDs could dip given that his 26.0 red-zone TD pass percentage -- which resulted in 27 scores -- likely will regress closer to league average. The backfield is also a bit of a question with Tony Pollard leaving and Ezekiel Elliott returning. Prescott doesn’t run much these days (3.2 rushes/game, 25th), so he’ll need to approach 600 attempts again to have any chance at staying in the top 5 of fantasy QBs.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Gains major pass-catching weapon
Prescott will have George Pickens as his No. 2 receiver in the 2025 season in the wake of the Cowboys' trade for the talented wideout Wednesday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys sent a 2026 third-round pick and 2027 fifth-round selection to the Steelers for Pickens, who also came with a 2027 sixth-round pick. Prescott now has his best starting receiver duo since the 2021 season, when current No. 1 wideout CeeDee Lamb was paired with Amari Cooper. Prescott unsurprisingly thrived in that campaign, throwing for 4,449 yards and a career-high 37 touchdown passes over 16 regular-season games.
