2026 Fantasy Outlook
Ferguson finished second among NFL tight ends with 24 red-zone targets in 2025, two years after leading the position with 25 such targets in 2023. He scored 13 touchdowns across those two campaigns, yet failed to find the end zone even once in 2024, becoming a non-factor after QB Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending injury. The 6-foot-5 TE is a distant third option in Dallas’ passing game, behind wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, but that didn’t stop Ferguson from catching a career-high 82 passes in 2025. He averaged a career-low 7.3 yards per catch, but that works fine in PPR leagues if he's averaging a handful of receptions per game and scoring a TD every 2-3 weeks. The only concern from last year is that his production and volume faded after a Week 10 bye, with Ferguson averaging just 27.0 yards on 4.5 targets over the final eight games while getting outproduced by No. 3 receiver Ryan Flournoy (39.6 YPG post-bye). That's not to say Ferguson can't repeat his success from 2023 or 2025, but he's not quite as safe a fantasy pick as he might seem at first glance. Read Past Outlooks

Ferguson was a distant second in targets to George Pickens' 13, and the veteran tight end failed to eclipse 25 receiving yards for the fourth time in the first five games. Ferguson's night -- and by extension, that of the Cowboys -- ended on a very sour note when he had a late fourth-quarter pass from Dak Prescott bounce off his hands and result in an Alex Anzalone interception that helped seal the victory for Tampa Bay. Ferguson has mustered a modest 15-102-3 line on 21 targets heading into a Week 6 road matchup against the Packers on Sunday night, Oct. 18.

Ferguson’s 2024 campaign was derailed by Dak Prescott’s season-ending hamstring injury, as the tight end had 38 catches for 334 yards on 52 targets in seven games with Prescott and just 21 catches for 160 yards on 34 targets in seven games after Prescott’s injury. The 6-foot-5 tight end didn’t score a touchdown all season, and his red-zone usage plummeted to just six targets after he led all NFL TEs with 25 red-zone targets in 2023 (and produced five touchdowns along with 761 yards in a breakout sophomore season). He’s likely to land somewhere in between those two extremes in 2025 even while dropping to third on the pass-catching totem pole behind CeeDee Lamb and newly acquired George Pickens. For all of Ferguson’s struggles last season, his 86 targets were still second most on the team behind Lamb’s 152. Luke Schoonmaker filled in capably for a three-game stretch while Ferguson was sidelined by a concussion, but Ferguson stepped back into a clear starting role once healthy and should remain ahead of the 2023 second-round draft pick this year.
