                2025 Fantasy Outlook

The Commanders drafted Lane in the fourth round this April at No. 128 overall, adding another body to the mix for what should be an open competition for the No. 3 receiver role behind veteran starters Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel. The Virginia Tech product is already 23, but it's unwise to say he lacks upside after he lit up the 2025 Combine with a 4.34 40 (t-3rd among WRs), 134-inch broad jump (1st) and 41.5-inch vertical (t-1st) at 5-foot-10, 191. Lane had just 1,004 receiving yards in 24 games for Virginia Tech the last two years while playing in miserable offenses, but his numbers were better at Middle Tennessee State, where he put up a 69-940-5 receiving line in 2022 before transferring. He also excelled as a punt returner and occasional rushing threat at both schools, which could make him dangerous in a Kliff Kingsbury offense that loves throwing screen passes to wide receivers. Shares No. 4 wideout role in Week 8
Lane caught one pass for zero yards on two targets while playing 23 of the Commanders' 53 snaps on offense in Monday's 28-7 loss to the Chiefs. He also returned two kickoffs for 30 yards and one punt for 14 yards.
				ANALYSIS
Lane's 43 percent snap share tied him with Chris Moore for fourth among Washington wideouts, trailing Deebo Samuel, Luke McCaffrey and Terry McLaurin. Both Samuel and McLaurin had returned to action following injury-related absences, though McLaurin was limited to just 25 snaps after suffering an apparent aggravation of his quadriceps injury late in the contest. If McLaurin isn't cleared to play in Washington's next game Sunday versus the Seahawks, Lane could be in line for increased opportunities in the passing game, though he would still make for an unreliable option in fantasy lineups.

Target boost likely Sunday
Lane should see a boost in targets in Sunday's Week 7 clash against the Cowboys due to the inactive status of Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Deebo Samuel (heel), as well as the absence of Noah Brown (IR, groin/knee).

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Slated for bigger role in Week 7
Lane is on tap for more targets from Jayden Daniels against the Cowboys on Sunday after the Commanders ruled Deebo Samuel out due to a heel injury, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
				ANALYSIS
The Commanders will be without their top wideouts in Samuel, Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown, and tight end Zach Ertz is listed as questionable due to shoulder and calf injuries. Luke McCaffrey will serve as the Commanders' WR1 for Sunday's NFC East tilt, but Lane will have an opportunity at an expanded role as the team's WR2 while veteran Chris Moore serves in a rotational role. Lane -- the Commanders' fourth-round pick of the 2025 NFL Draft -- has accumulated seven catches on 15 targets for 82 yards through the first six regular-season games of his NFL career.
