Signed to active roster
The Bills signed Poyer off the practice squad Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Poyer started at safety in Week 8 against the Panthers and logged five tackles (one solo) on 74 percent of the defensive snaps. With Taylor Rapp (knee) and Damar Hamlin (pectoral) on injured reserve, Poyer seems like a good bet to remain in the starting lineup.

Poyer spent the last seven seasons in Buffalo, and he stays in the AFC East as an anticipated full-time player for Miami. While Poyer has lost a step since earning first-team All-Pro honors in 2021, he did make the Pro Bowl in 2022 and passed the 100-tackle mark across 16 regular-season games in 2023. At a certain point, age and the workload of a twelve-year NFL career will add up, but until then Poyer should remain a viable IDP asset, especially with talent surrounding him in the Dolphins' secondary.

Wants to play next season
Poyer, who remains a free agent, wants to continue his career in 2025, Michael Baca of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Poyer spent the 2024 season with the Dolphins after calling Buffalo home for the previous seven campaigns. The veteran was productive with 98 total tackles and three passes defended across 16 regular-season games, and he crossed the 900-snap mark for the seventh time in eight seasons. Appearing on NFL Network's Good Morning Football, Poyer said he would "absolutely love" to play in 2025 and added that landing back with the Bills would be "ideal" as he winds down his career.
