Kaiir Elam

24-Year-Old CornerbackCB
Dallas Cowboys
2025 Fantasy Outlook
A first-round pick of the Bills in 2022, Elam never established himself as a reliable starter in the Buffalo secondary, prompting a trade to Dallas in March. The Florida product has battled injuries in his career, and his skills and instincts haven't always kept up with the impressive speed and athleticism he showed in college. Nonetheless, Elam seems on track to start for the Cowboys in Week 1 as the team waits for Trevon Diggs and 2025 third-round pick Shavon Revel to get healthy. Read Past Outlooks
Signed a four-year, $13.69 million contract with the Bills in May of 2022.
Not extended beyond 2025

Elam had his fifth-year option declined by the Cowboys on Thursday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dallas would have had to pay Elam, a depth corner with the Bills last year, about $12.7 million in 2026 if it had picked up the option, per Fowler. Elam was a first-round pick of the Bills in 2022, but he struggled to secure a starting role before being traded to the Cowboys in March. He'll now try to compete for a role in the last year of his rookie contract.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Elam was a first round pick last year, but didn't exactly 'burst onto the scene' as a rookie. He played in 13 games (6 starts) and managed to snag two interceptions and 41 tackles. He's looking for more in his second year and should have lots of time to prove himself.

Stepping up in banged-up CB room
CBDallas Cowboys
August 14, 2025
Elam has stepped up as the Cowboys battle injuries at cornerback, per Eric Edholm of NFL.com.
ANALYSIS
Elam could open the season as a starter at outside cornerback over DaRon Bland, as it's possible none of Trevon Diggs, Shavon Revel or Caelen Carson will be ready for Week 1 due to their respective knee injuries. Diggs is aiming for a September return from a torn ACL, while Revel's torn ACL is expected to sideline him for the regular-season opener. Carson's recovery from a hyperextended knee could stretch into the regular season as well, and the 2024 fifth-round pick could be behind Elam on the depth chart even when healthy.
