Kalif Raymond

30-Year-Old Wide ReceiverWR
Detroit Lions
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Raymond has been with the Lions for three years. In 2023, the pass catcher had his worst season with the team. The main issue was that Raymond was targeted just 44 times in 17 games. One of the main reasons that Raymond saw a decreased role was that Jameson Williams saw an increase in playing time. It would seem that Williams is ready to see his role increase again in 2024. If that happens, Raymond could see his production fall even further. The veteran’s best hope for fantasy success would be if other Detroit receivers miss time. Read Past Outlooks

Four catches in Week 6
WRDetroit Lions
October 14, 2024
Raymond caught four of six targets for 73 yards in Sunday's 47-9 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Raymond played 24 offensive snaps in the victory over Dallas, his highest total since Week 2, and he turned his added opportunities into a season high in both catches and yardage. Entering play Sunday, the wide receiver had only seen five total targets on the year, and he still remains buried behind Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams and Tim Patrick on Detroit's depth chart. Through five games in 2024, Raymond has caught eight of 11 targets for 109 yards.

Raymond was a dependable asset for Detroit in 2022. Playing in all 17 games, the 2022 second-team All-Pro punt returner helped fill in for each of Amon-Ra St. Brown, DJ Chark and Josh Reynolds while the team waited the entire year for rookie Jameson Williams to recover from a knee injury. Even though the Lions eventually want Williams to run away with the No. 2 job behind St. Brown, Williams will miss at least the first six games of the year as a result of violating the league's gambling policy. That gives Raymond a chance to handle a large role at receiver out of the gate this season, especially because they only replaced the 26-year-old Chark with a 33-year-old Marvin Jones in the offseason.
After masquerading as a starting receiver for most of last season, Raymond enters the 2022 campaign fighting for the No. 5 or 6 spot on the depth chart. While his roster spot should be safe considering Detroit gave the punt returner almost $3 million in the first year of a two-year deal, he will have to beat out Quintez Cephus and Josh Reynolds just to be a potential injury replacement for DJ Chark, Jameson Williams or Amon-Ra St. Brown.
While the Titans let Raymond walk in free agency, Detroit needs someone to fill in as the team's primary return man on both punts and kickoffs. Raymond seems like the clear favorite to do so, and it's possible the speedster could also have some sort of role as a situational deep threat on offense.
Raymond has bounced around several franchises in the league, but may have found his home in Tennessee. After being promoted from the practice squad to the active roster, Raymond provided several explosive plays to close out the 2019 campaign. He recorded receptions of 52 and 40 yards in the regular season, but made his biggest impact during the playoffs with a 45-yard touchdown reception in the Titans' upset win over the Ravens. Given the departure of Tajae Sharpe and the team's decision to not invest in pass-catchers this offseason, Raymond is in a strong position to serve as the fourth wideout and major downfield threat.

Set for career-high volume in 2024?
WRDetroit Lions
May 19, 2024
Bradley Locker of Pro Football Focus expects Raymond to see a career-high target total in 2024 following the departure of Josh Reynolds in free agency.
ANALYSIS
Speedster Jameson Williams is the popular choice to absorb most of the 64 targets Reynolds saw last season, but Locker points out that Raymond has a more similar skill set to Reynolds as a wide receiver capable of moving the chains on short and intermediate routes when defenses focus on taking away Amon-Ra St. Brown. Raymond, who missed last season's playoffs due to a knee injury, saw 44 targets in 2023, down from 64 in 2022 and a career-high 71 in 2021, which was his first season in Detroit.
