The journeyman proved to be effective all season, posting 61 tackles while nabbing five interceptions. Gipson performed so well that the front office decided to bring him back as the starter for 2023 after letting the more expensive Ward walk in free agency. Read Past Outlooks

For the second consecutive offseason, the Bears signed Gipson to a one-year contract. Under the first deal, he posted 68 tackles and two interceptions in 16 games. Entering his age-31 season, he's recorded at least 51 tackles in seven of the last eight years while playing on four different teams. In addition, he's posted seven or eight pass defenses in four straight seasons and totaled 10 interceptions during that span. Gipson shouldn't have trouble retaining a full-time role this year, making him a likely candidate to replicate his recent output.
