FantasyDraft NHL: Wednesday Values

FantasyDraft NHL: Wednesday Values

This article is part of our FantasyDraft NHL series.

The pickings are slim Wednesday. There are only two games on the slate, which means you don't have a lot of options for your daily fantasy lineups. Still, some choices seem better than others.

GOALIE

Boston Bruins, BOS vs. MON ($15,900): The Bruins are 7-0-3 in their last 10 games, while the Canadiens are 3-5-2 in their last 10 tilts. Montreal has also only scored a mere 2.57 goals per game. Boston, on the other hand, has allowed only 29.7 shots on net per contest, second fewest in the NHL.

CENTER

Ryan Getzlaf, ANA vs. PIT ($12,200): Getzlaf doesn't put a ton of shots on net, which is why he only has four goals. However, that doesn't matter when you rack up so many assists. The veteran pivot has 21 assists in 21 games, including 15 in 15 contests since returning from an injury. The Penguins have a 3.04 team GAA, which is in the bottom 10 in the league.

David Krejci, BOS vs. MON ($10,300): Krejci has had a hard time staying healthy, but he's done well since returning from his latest injury. In his last six games he's tallied five points. He's also averaged 2:31 per game on the power play, and he's recorded eight points with the extra man in 24 tilts. Montreal has the 26th ranked penalty kill, and in fact the Habs are the only team playing Wednesday that doesn't have a top 10 penalty kill.

WING

Phil Kessel, PIT at ANA ($15,100): With only four teams in action, why not get a reliable guy who has been on an absolute tear this season. Kessel has a whopping 20 goals and 52 points in 46 games. He's also put 168 pucks on net. That last number is particularly notable, as the Ducks have given up 33.7 shots on goal per contest.

Jakob Silfverberg, ANA vs. PIT ($10,500): Silfverberg has tallied 11 goals on 109 shots through 40 games, and he has 10 points in 15 tilts since returning from an injury. That includes four power-play points. On the road this season, the Penguins have a 3.30 team GAA. Matt Murray is expected to return to action for this game, but with the way he's played (2.93 GAA, .903 save percentage) that may actually not be a good thing for the Pens.

David Backes, BOS vs. MON ($9,100): It's easy to forget about Backes, as the 33-year-old is far from a hot commodity these days. As such, you may be surprised to find out that he has six goals, seven assists, and 34 shots on net in his last 12 contests. The Canadiens have a 3.45 team GAA on the road, which ranks in the bottom five of the NHL. They've also given up 33.1 shots on net per contest away from Montreal.

DEFENSE

Charlie McAvoy, BOS vs. MON ($10,300): McAvoy is threatening to make a run at the Calder Trophy as a defenseman. He's tallied 24 points in 42 games, including six on the power play. The 20-year-old already is averaging 22:51 per game, and in his last six games he has five points. Montreal has the worst team GAA of any team in action Wednesday, and their penalty kill is ranked 26th.

Olli Maatta, PIT at ANA ($7,700) Maatta has tallied 95 shots on net in 46 games, which is a good number for a defenseman. That's encouraging given that the Ducks have allowed 33.7 shots on net per game. Maatta also has 17 points, including five on the power play. At this price, he's an interesting option. Plus, he has 64 blocked shots, so he could add a little value on that front as well.
