Head coach Rod Brind'Amour told Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal on Monday that he is "comfortable" with Perets currently being the third netminder on Carolina's depth chart.

The Hurricanes released Jaroslav Halak on Monday from his professional tryout, leaving Perets as the next man up should injuries occur. With Frederik Andersen out indefinitely due to a blood clotting issue, Antti Raanta and Pyotr Kochetkov have been sharing the goaltending duties. Perets has a 2-5-1 record this season with a 2.93 GAA and a .900 save percentage in eight ECHL outings for Norfolk.
