Dream11 Fantasy KBO: Tigers at Bears

This article is part of our Dream11 Fantasy KBO series.

Kia Tigers (45-42) at Doosan Bears (50-38-2)

Tuesday, August 25th, 5:30 AM EDT

Projected Starters

RHP Min Woo Lee (4-7, 5.82 ERA) vs RHP Young Ha Lee (3-8, 5.44 ERA)

Game Preview

The Tigers and the Bears are both vying for a playoff spot in the KBO this season, but the Bears seem to be closer to achieve that goal since they sit in third place of the standings after achieving the 50-win mark already. The Tigers, on the other hand, have been very inconsistent of late and are just three games above the .500 plateau. The pitching matchup features two pitchers with ERAs over the 5.40 mark in Min Woo Lee (Tigers) and Young Ha Lee (Bears), so all signs indicate the offenses will decide the outcome of this contest.

Injuries

Doosan Bears

Sang Ho Chung - 10-Day IL - Hand

8/20 10:50 PM IST - Chung was removed from Thursday's game against the Giants with a bruised left hand, according to OSEN. Chung was struck on the hand while catching in the third inning and was unable to continue. It remains to be seen if the injury will cost him more time.

Chris Flexen - Out - Foot

8/17 10:03 PM IST - Flexen (foot) is not expected to pitch again until September at the earliest, according to chosun.com. Flexen continues to work his way back from a broken foot, and it looks like he still has several steps to go in his recovery.

Duk Joo Ham - Out - Not Injury Related

8/21 2:01 PM IST - Ham was sent down by the Bears on Friday, Ik Rae Choi of The Dong-A Ilbo reports. It is unclear as to why the southpaw lasted just one day with Doosan since returning from an elbow injury. Ham faced two batters during Thursday's 6-5 loss against Lotte.

Kyoung Min Hur - 10-Day IL - Calf

8/20 2:34 PM IST - Hur was placed on the injured list Thursday with pain in his left calf, Ik Rae Choi of The Dong-A Ilbo reports. The third baseman reportedly needs around five days to recover. Hur has been bothered by calf pain during August, missing two starts over Doosan's last six games because of it.

Hyung Bum Lee - 10-Day IL - Elbow

8/14 3:36 PM IST - Lee was placed on the injured list with right elbow pain, per Nam Jik Ha of the Yonhap News Agency. The 26-year-old will look to rest and regroup following a dismal three months. It is unclear when Lee got hurt, but an elbow injury certainly has not helped him with his 8.02 ERA across 23 games.

Yong Chan Lee - Out - Elbow

6/4 2:49 PM IST - Lee will undergo Tommy John surgery and is expected to miss at least a year, Daniel Kim of DKTV reports. Lee has started regularly for Doosan since 2018, but his 2020 season will come to an early and abrupt end as a result of his elbow injury. It remains to be seen who will enter the rotation in Lee's place, as the Giants have only needed five starting pitchers to date.

Jae Won Oh - 10-Day IL - Back

8/19 10:13 PM IST - Oh is dealing with a sore back and will undergo tests to determine the extent of his injury, according to Ik Rae Choi of The Dong-A Ilbo. The extent of Oh's injury is not yet known, but the Bears figure to release an update on his status after he is checked out by doctors.

Se Hyuk Park - Out - Not Injury Related

8/15 3:32 PM IST - Park was demoted from Doosan's first team, Nam Jik Ha of the Yonhap News Agency reports. Bears manager Tae Hyoung Kim cited inconsistent offense from the 30-year-old as to why he got sent down as Park is hitless in five of his last seven starts. Sang Ho Chung is back with Doosan's first team.

Kia Tigers

Aaron Brooks - Out - Back

8/24 9:29 PM IST - Brooks is dealing with minor back soreness and was removed from the Tigers' roster, according to OSEN. Brooks does not appear to be dealing with anything serious, but the Tigers will give him some time to rest and recover. It remains to be seen who will take his place in the rotation.

Young Seok Jang - Out - Not Injury Related

6/8 10:29 PM IST - Jang was removed from KIA's first-team roster Monday, Ik-rae Choi of The Dong-A Ilbo reports. Jang was called up last week after spending several weeks with KIA's second team, but he is headed back down after going 1-for-11 (.091) last week. Recently-acquired Ji Hyuk Ryu is expected to take over as KIA's starting third baseman.

Tae Jin Kim - 10-Day IL - Ankle

8/12 10:17 PM IST - The Tigers acquired Kim (ankle) and pitcher Hyun Sik Jang from the Dinos on Wednesday in exchange for pitchers Jeong Soo Park and Kyeong Chan Moon, Jee Ho Yoo of Yonhap News Agency reports. The 24-year-old Kim has been sidelined since early July with a right ankle injury, but once healthy, he'll at least provide the Tigers with a versatile option in the infield and outfield. Over 37 games this season, Kim is batting .217 with a home run and six RBI across 88 plate appearances while seeing action at third base, second base, left field and center field.

Sun Bin Kim - 10-Day IL - Hamstring

8/12 3:52 PM IST - Kim was placed on the injured list Wednesday with a right hamstring injury, according to mksports.co.kr. The 30-year-old reportedly hurt himself after making an impressive sliding catch during the second inning of Tuesday's game against LG. Kim recorded three hits, but the injury is severe enough that he requires another prolonged absence. This is Kim's third stint on the injured list this season.

Joo Chan Kim - 10-Day IL - Undisclosed

6/22 11:52 PM IST - Kim was removed from the Tigers' roster on Monday, Soo Jin Park of Star News reports. It's not clear if Kim was placed on the injured list or sent to the Futures League, as he went 6-for-18 (.333) after making his season debut June 7 but received just five at-bats over the last five games. One way or another, though, the 39-year-old will not be active heading into the latest week of KBO action.

Chang Jin Lee - Out - Hamstring

8/6 9:38 PM IST - Lee left Thursday's game against the Twins with a right thigh injury and will be out at least two weeks, according to sportsseoul.com. Lee has been a steady presence atop the Tigers' lineup since making his season debut in early July, but the team will be forced to use other options in the leadoff spot until he is ready to get back on the field.

Joo Hwan Na - 10-Day IL - Back

8/20 3:01 PM IST - Na was placed on the injured list Thursday with back pain, per OSEN. The 36-year-old Na is the latest Kia third baseman to go down with an injury. Na was cruising through August with a .327 batting average over 15 games. Won Joon Choi, who has mainly played the outfield this season, will start at third base Thursday.

Joon Pyo Park - Out - Finger

8/4 2:42 PM IST - Park was demoted from the Kia roster Tuesday due to pain in his right ring finger, Tae Woo Kim of SPOTV reports. The reliever suffered the injury lifting weights before Tuesday's game against LG. The 28-year-old reportedly lost control while holding a dumbbell, causing the hyperextension of his ring finger. Kia promoted Joon Young Lee on Tuesday to replace Park.

Ji Hyuk Ryu - Out - Hamstring

8/6 9:43 PM IST - Ryu (hamstring) is ready to begin playing in rehab games, according to Tae Woo Kim of SPOTV. Ryu jumped right into a start spot after being acquired by the Tigers in early June, but he injured his hamstring in his fifth game with the club and has been sidelined since. While Ryu is set to get back on the field, manager Matt Williams did not provide an estimated date for Ryu's return to KIA's first team.
