Dream11 Fantasy KBO: Twins at Wyverns

This article is part of our Dream11 Fantasy KBO series.

LG Twins (56-40-2) at SK Wyverns (32-64-1)

Wednesday, September 2nd, 5:30 AM EDT

Projected Starters

LHP Jae Heon Sung (0-0, 2.45 ERA) vs RHP Seung Won Moon (4-7, 3.95 ERA)

Game Preview

The Twins and the Wyverns are riding opposite runs of form and it's clear both teams have different objectives ahead of the final weeks of the 2020 season. While the Twins are vying for a spot in the KBO playoffs, the Wyverns have been a massive disappointment and are already planning what's going to happen with them in 2021. These two teams already played Tuesday and the Twins destroyed the Wyverns' pitching, winning by a 13-5 score. The pitching matchup for Wednesday's game will feature a lefty, Jae Heon Sung, for the Twins and a righty, Seung Won Moon, for the Wyverns. The Twins also have the edge looking at the ERA of both pitchers, although Sung also has the edge of facing a weaker lineup.

Injuries

LG Twins

Woo Chan Cha - 10-Day IL - Shoulder

7/25 3:32 PM IST - Cha will miss 3-to-4 weeks with pain in his left shoulder, according to chosun.com. The southpaw is scheduled for another examination Monday after LG put him on the injured list Saturday. Cha threw seven scoreless innings in his first start post-demotion, but he will now not return to action until some point in August.

Eun Sung Chae - 10-Day IL - Side

8/27 2:29 PM IST - Chae will sit out 2-to-3 weeks

Injuries

8/27 2:29 PM IST - Chae will sit out 2-to-3 weeks due to a ruptured right side, per SPOTV News. The Twins outfielder tore one of his sides after a swing Wednesday against Samsung. LG will likely start Yong Taik Park at DH and Hyung Jong Lee in right field until Chae is fully healthy.

Casey Kelly - Out - Not Injury Related

8/31 10:40 PM IST - Kelly was removed from the Twins' roster Monday, according to Star News. According to the report Kelly is not dealing with an injury but will get an extended break until his his next start. Kelly has thrown the ball well the last couple months and the Twins are down a couple starters, but this move signifies the team has an eye on the future, as LG wants to ensure its top pitcher is in good shape for the stretch run.

Min Sung Kim - 10-Day IL - Side

8/19 3:59 PM IST - Kim was placed on the injured list Wednesday with side pain, according to OSEN. The 31-year-old reportedly suffered the injury following a swing attempt during his final plate appearance Tuesday. Kim will enter the injured list again after previously missing five weeks due to thigh pain.

Chun Woong Lee - Out - Hand

7/18 1:50 PM IST - Lee will miss 3-4 weeks with a fracture in his left hand, Won Chul Shin of SPOTV reports. The 31-year-old exited Friday's game at Seoul early after receiving one accidental pitch to the palm during an at-bat. The injury turned out worse than envisioned, as Lee will miss a few weeks recuperating from his fracture. Chang Gi Hong looks to receive more starts in the outfield until further notice.

Hyung Jong Lee - Day-To-Day - Neck

9/1 3:53 PM IST - Lee is not starting against the Wyverns on Tuesday due to a neck-related injury, Tae Woo Kim of SPOTV reports. The Twins outfielder was nixed from LG's lineup after he felt pain during pregame warmups. LG is now starting 21-year-old backup Jae Won Lee at right field on Tuesday.

Sang Gyu Lee - Out - Not Injury Related

7/11 10:45 PM IST - Lee was removed from the Twins' roster Saturday, according to hankooki.com. Lee was brilliant to open the season, posting a 1.35 ERA and recording four saves over his first 13 appearances, but he has struggled mightily of late, allowing 13 earned runs in 7.2 innings over his last eight outings. As a result, the Twins decided to send him down to iron some things out.

Min Ho Lee - Out - Not Injury Related

8/27 9:34 PM IST - Lee was removed from the Twins' roster Thursday, according to Su Jin Park of Star News. This move comes as no surprise, as Lee has regularly been sent down between starts this season. He should rejoin LG's first team at some point in the first half of September.

Chan Gyu Lim - 10-Day IL - Hip

8/30 9:34 PM IST - Lim was placed on the injured list Sunday with a sore hip, according to chosun.com. The extent of Lim's injury is uncertain, but more should be known after he is examined Monday.

SK Wyverns

Joon Woo Choi - Out - Not Injury Related

8/24 9:30 PM IST - Choi was removed from the Wyverns' roster Monday, according to OSEN. Choi has been the Wyverns' primary second baseman for most of the season, but he ceded those duties to Hang Choi of late, so the club presumably sent him down in order to get regular at-bats.

Jae Hoon Ha - Out - Shoulder

8/10 4:56 PM IST - Ha will miss two months with an injury to his right shoulder, In Ha Kwon of The Chosun Ilbo reports. The reigning saves champion suffered another setback during a relief appearance for SK's Futures League team Friday. He now needs two more months to recover despite being on the verge of returning from an undisclosed injury. Ha's season is likely over, with a 7.62 ERA and just four saves this year.

Jin Gi Jeong - 10-Day IL - Undisclosed

6/16 3:31 PM IST - Jeong is not in Tuesday's lineup versus KT, MyKBOStats.com reports. The 27-year-old will be left out as the Wyverns rotate their outfield once more. Jeong hit .156 through the first two weeks of June.

Ji Kwang Kang - Out - Shoulder

6/15 2:22 PM IST - Kang, who has alternated between position player and relief pitcher the last few seasons, will resume pitching in Futures League games Wednesday, Tae Woo Kim of SPOTV reports. Kang converted from pitcher to hitter when he was drafted in 2009, per the Yonhap News Agency, but he never saw much action as a hitter and gave pitching another shot a couple years ago. The move appeared to be a good one, as he allowed just three earned runs in 16.1 innings (1.65 ERA) over his final 15 appearances last season. However, he was plagued by shoulder soreness that sidelined him after mid-June and entered this season as a hitter again. He is now feeling good enough to give pitching another shot, and if all goes well he could be a factor out of the Wyverns' bullpen at some point soon.

Chang Pyung Kim - 10-Day IL - Shoulder

7/8 10:43 PM IST - Kim (shoulder) is playing in Futures League games, according to Tae Woo Kim of SPOTV. Kim did not return in late June as expected, but considering he's at least seeing game action, it shouldn't be long until he is deemed ready to rejoin SK's top club.

Tyler White - Out - Finger

8/26 1:59 PM IST - White was diagnosed Tuesday with a fractured right index finger, Jeeho Yoo of the Yonhap News Agency reports. He's expected to miss three weeks while recovering from the injury. The ex-MLB player suffered the untimely injury after he was struck in the hand by a pitch from Giants right-hander Adrian Sampson on Tuesday. After signing with the Wyverns and completing a quarantine period, White debuted for SK on Aug. 23 and played just two games before going down with the injury.

Top Picks From Each Team

Roberto Ramos, Twins: Ramos went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and three total RBI in Tuesday's win over the Wyverns. Ramos has produced multi-hit performances in three of his last four games, and the slugging first baseman continues to produce after struggling in the first half of August. Since Aug. 16 onwards, Ramos is hitting .380 with a 1.336 OPS and seven homers.

Jeong Choi, Wyverns: Choi has been the Wyverns' best player by a wide margin, but he has been struggling of late. He went 0-for-4 with a run scored Tuesday and, to make things more complicated, he enters this game after slashing .194/.390/.355, although he still has posted a .745 OPS in that stretch. Could this be the game where he bounces back?
